What do you enjoy most about hockey?
Just playing the game. I love to play any chance that I get, whether it is on the driveway…or even sometimes on the lake. I just love playing, I love the sport, it’s just a lot of fun.
How would you describe yourself as a hockey player?
I use my energy well, I skate efficiently, I have good vision and anticipation. I’m good with the puck and have a touch for scoring, and I’m also a smooth skater.
What hockey player do you look up to the most?
I have a few people I look up to, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and also Sidney Crosby. This year I’m a big Oilers fan, and I admire all of those players.
What hockey player do you hope to play like one day?
(On Jordan Eberle) I like the way he plays with the puck and his skating. He’s a great goal scorer and he’s someone I’ve always looked up to because he’s from Regina.
What are you goals in hockey?
I have several goals. First, is to win provincials here in Saskatchewan, and a chance to play in the Westerns. Second is to get drafted high in this year’s WHL Bantam Draft. I would also like to make my Sask First team and maybe even the Under-16 team. And of course, someday the chance to play in the NHL.
What school are you currently attending? What is your favourite school subject?
I go to a Balgonie school, Greenall High School. My favourite school subject overall I think would be math, although PA is fun too as you get to do some woodworking and even learn how to do some cooking stuff. It is usually a fun class.
What hobbies do you have outside of hockey?
I have many different interests. I like snowmobiling with my dad and brothers, we usually go on a snowmobiling trip every year. I like seadoing in the summer. I also enjoy water sports such as water skiing and wake skiing, and also swimming. And sometimes even going on a pontoon or fishing trip with my dad and brothers.
What is your nickname?
I usually just get called Jaden, but I also have Hobbes.
What is your most cherished hockey memory?
I think it was probably my second year Novice with the Storm, in the city championships. I scored the game winning goal (against the Regina Hurricanes) with only seconds left in the game to win the Championship. I will probably never forget that moment.
What do you think will be the next big hockey moment in your life?
I think definitely winning Saskatchewan here, and going into Westerns, and also I think leading up the WHL draft. I’m really excited for that and who I get drafted to. It will be a very exciting day for me and my family.
