Wheat Kings’ Jayce Hawryluk named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that 2014 NHL Draft prospect Jayce Hawryluk of the Brandon Wheat Kings is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 3 after scoring six goals with two assists for eight points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-4.
Hawryluk recorded the first two hat-tricks of his career helping the Wheat Kings earn a pair of victories to even their record at 9-9-0-0 in the WHL’s East Division standings. His first three-goal game included the game-winner plus an assist to lead the Wheat Kings to a 6-3 win over the Everett Silvertips on Friday night where he claimed first star honours. Hawryluk then reproduced the same offensive effort with another three goals and one assist on Sunday once again earning first star honours in a 6-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. He was held without a point in a 4-2 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds last Tuesday.
Hawryluk, a 17-year-old from Roblin, MB, is playing in his second WHL season with the Wheat Kings who selected him 32nd overall in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
