2024-25 WHL season preview
The winds of change have begun to blow in the WHL and they’re being powered by the no. 1 ranked team in the CHL.
The Medicine Hat Tigers head into the 2024-25 campaign on top of the CHL after they were named the no. 1 team in the CHL’s Top 10 preseason rankings.
Gavin McKenna (2026) leads a deep roster that also features Andrew Basha (CGY), Cayden Lindstrom (CBJ), Niilopekka Muhonen (DAL), Ryder Ritchie (MIN), Veeti Vaisanen (UTA) and Oasis Weisblatt as they begin their quest for a first WHL title since 2007.
Prince George comes into 2024-25 with high expectations again after a run to the third round of the WHL Playoffs a year ago. Ranked no. 7 in the CHL’s Top 10 preseason rankings, Riley Heidt (MIN) and Terik Parascak (WSH) are set to power the Cougars offence once again. Between the pipes, a lot of eyes will be on Joshua Ravensbergen (2025) as he looks to build off a fantastic rookie season in his NHL Draft year.
The Kelowna Rockets – led by Andrew Cristall (WSH) and Tij Iginla (UTA) – open the season ranked ninth while Calgary are on the fringes with a roster that has its top four scorers returning and have defensive stalwart Carter Yakemchuk (OTT) patrolling the blue line.
Every game from the WHL can be seen live on CHL TV.
