2024-25 CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 20
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 20 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
With a CHL-best 45 wins and .836 points percentage, which is being powered by their current eight-game point streak (7-0-1-0), the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) continue their dominance as they remain No.1 for a 13th consecutive week. Right behind them, sitting in second, are the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The Wildcats are allowing 2.33 goals per game on average and hold a +118 goal differential – both of which rank first among all clubs in the CHL. Finally, the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL are sitting at No.3 for the fourth week in a row. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1-0) over the last seven days and they continue to hold the third-best points percentage (.745) in the CHL.
Among the notable changes to this week’s rankings were the rise of the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL), the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL, and the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL. With 18 wins over their last 22 games (18-2-1-1), the Tigers are up to No. 6 – their highest ranking since October 15. Having earned big victories against the Barrie Colts and the No.1-ranked London Knights in the last week, the Rangers have climbed up to seventh. Meanwhile, with 13 victories over their last 16 contests (13-3-0-0), the Hitmen have risen by one place to sit eighth this week.
The next rankings will be released the week of March 3, following the 21st week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 20
1. London Knights (OHL): Currently amid an eight-game point streak (7-0-1-0), including winning two out of three (2-0-1-0) over the last week, the London Knights (45-8-2-0) are ranked No.1 for the 13th week in a row – a streak that dates back to November 19. Over this past weekend, the Knights earned their victories against Erie (5-1) and Brampton (4-3 OT), the latter of which was sealed by a beautiful winner in the extra frame by San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson (22G-47A in 44 GP). Their only loss came in overtime at the hands of the No.7-ranked Rangers, who have won two of their last three meetings with the Knights. Averaging 4.69 goals per game through 55 contests, London continues to lead the CHL in scoring. Additionally, their +114 goal differential is second-best in the CHL, trailing only the No.2-ranked Moncton Wildcats (+118). Including his OT winner, Dickinson registered a team-high seven points (2G-5A) over London’s three games last week. The 2024 San Jose Sharks first-round pick now has 69 points this season, placing him third in scoring by a defenceman in the OHL in 2024-25. Meanwhile, thanks to their pair of wins, Dale Hunter is inching that much closer to 1,000 wins in his OHL coaching career – as the Knights’ bench boss now sits at 996 victories. He’s now just four away from becoming the second coach to ever reach 1,000 wins in the CHL and OHL, following in the footsteps of the legendary Brian Kilrea, who won 1,194 career games as the head coach of the Ottawa 67’s. This week, the Knights will look to help Dale get that much closer when they face off against the Attack, the IceDogs, and the Generals this weekend.
Games this week: vs. Owen Sound (Feb. 28), @ Niagara (Mar. 1), @ Oshawa (Mar. 2)
2. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): Following a pair of dominant wins against the Cape Breton Eagles (6-0) and Victoriaville Tigres (10-1), the Moncton Wildcats (43-9-2-0) come in at second for a fourth week in a row. Going back to October 8, Moncton has found itself ranked within the top three 17 times over the last 19 weeks. Along with the Knights, Moncton (.815) is one of just two teams in the CHL to have a points percentage above .800. Meanwhile, the Wildcats allow the fewest goals per game (2.23) in the CHL and they have the best goal differential (+118) of any of the CHL’s 60 clubs. Thanks to their victories last week, Moncton has strung together a QMJHL-best five-game winning streak. Having outscored their opponents 16-1 over the weekend, German forward Julius Sumpf (22G-31A in 48 GP) and St. Louis Blues prospect Juraj Pekarcik (20G-35A in 45 GP) both led the Wildcats in scoring having each registered seven points over that pair of games. For Sumpf, the latter included setting a new career-best with a five-point night (1G-4A) against the Tigers on Sunday. Meanwhile, Pekarcik was named to the QMJHL Team of the Week on Monday for his efforts. He’s now got points in four straight contests, along with six of his last seven games (2G-10A over that stretch). This week, the Wildcats will be tested as they get set to welcome two of the QMJHL’s strongest teams, the Drummondville Voltigeurs and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, to the Avenir Centre this weekend.
Games this week: vs. Drummondville (Feb. 28), vs. Blainville-Boisbriand (Mar. 1)
3. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): After going 1-0-1-0 during their two-game series against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar this weekend, the Rimouski Océanic (39-12-2-2) are once again sitting third for the fourth week in a row. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts have now registered a point in six straight games (5-0-1-0) and they have won eight of their 10 games (8-1-1-0). Along with the No.2-ranked Wildcats, the Océanic have won a QMJHL-best 17 games since December 31, as the club has gone 17-2-2-1 over its last 22 contests since New Year’s Eve. This weekend, the Océanic first fell 4-3 in overtime to the Drakkar, before avenging the loss with a 5-1 victory over Baie-Comeau the following day. Rimouski is arguably the best team on home ice, as they hold a 23-2-2-1 record at the Colisée Financière Sun Life this season. With just five losses on home ice this season (including just two in regulation), the Océanic are a force to be reckoned with at home – a fact that could provide critical come Memorial Cup time. Among those who led the way for Rimouski this past weekend was none other than Anaheim Ducks prospect Alexandre Blais (20G-46A in 53 GP). With a goal and an assist in their lone victory of the week, Blais was named the game’s first star and he ranks among the top 15 scorers in the QMJHL this season with 66 points. Blais has put together a strong month of February thus far, recording 14 points (2G-12A) in nine games. This week, Blais and the Océanic will aim to extend their six-game point streak when this time they’ll face that same Drakkar squad in Baie-Comeau for a pair of contests.
Games this week: @ Baie-Comeau (Feb. 28), @ Baie-Comeau (Mar. 1)
4. Spokane Chiefs (WHL): Although they dropped a 4-2 contest on the road in Tri-City, the Spokane Chiefs (39-17-1-1) continue to impress as they defeated those same Americans (9-6) and the Portland Winterhawks (7-3) by scoring an average of eight goals in those victories this past weekend. For that reason, holding an impressive 7-1-1-1 record over their last 10, the Chiefs are once again ranked fourth for a second week in a row. Going back to January 31, Spokane has averaged 5.75 goals per game and holds a 9-1-1-1 record over that stretch. Over the last week, Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton (34G-65A in 47 GP) and Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall (42G-70A in 47 GP), who both led the WHL with nine points (both players had 3G-6A) in three games since last week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings were released on February 19. If we go back to January 10, which is when Cristall joined the Chiefs from the Rockets and Catton returned from World Juniors, both Catton and Cristall have tallied a CHL-best 52 points in 19 games over that stretch. Specifically, for Catton, after he went scoreless in his first game back from World Juniors, the Kraken prospect has since put together an 18-game point streak. Over his 18-game streak, Catton has registered two points or more on 15 occasions, including an impressive 11 times over his last 12 games. Meanwhile, following his nine-point week, Cristall leads the WHL in scoring with 112 points this season. Although he isn’t on an 18-game point streak of his own, Cristall has been held scoreless on just three occasions in 19 games with the Chiefs. This week, as Catton aims to top the 100-point plateau and linemate Shea Van Olm (47G-41A in 56 GP) looks to be the first in the WHL to top 50 goals, Spokane will welcome the Giants, Wild, and Thunderbirds to Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena as part of a three-game homestand.
Games this week: vs. Vancouver (Feb. 26), vs. Wenatchee (Feb. 28), vs. Seattle (Mar. 1)
5. Everett Silvertips (WHL): Having split their games over the last week, the Everett Silvertips (40-11-4-3) come in at No.5 for a second week in a row. The Silvertips got their weekend started on the right foot by defeating the Winterhawks 4-1 on home ice before they traveled to Seattle and fell 3-1 to the Thunderbirds. Despite their 6-4-0-0 record over their last 10 games, Everett continues to lead the WHL with 40 wins and sits atop the league’s overall standings with 87 points. They also have now ranked among the top five clubs in the CHL for 16 straight weeks dating back to October 22. That said, their recent struggles have clubs closing in on the WHL’s current first-place team as the Silvertips now hold just a five-point lead ahead of Medicine Hat heading into this week. Over the last week, Everett was led in scoring by three skaters, including 15-year-old defenceman Landon DuPont (14G-40A in 54 GP), who registered a goal and an assist over the Silvertips’ pair of games. Earlier this month, DuPont became the first rookie blueliner in the WHL to break the 50-point plateau since Kamloops Blazers alumnus Scott Niedermayer achieved the feat. Now at 54 points on the season, DuPont continues to lead all WHL rookie skaters in points (54). The Calgary, Alta., native additionally has registered 40 assists, which ranks as the most of any rookie across the CHL in 2024-25. Having already amassed the most points by a 15-year-old defenceman in CHL history, DuPont is currently on pace for 64 points this season, which would trail only John Tavares (77 points), Shane Wright (66 points), and Connor McDavid (66 points) in terms of scoring by exceptional status players across the CHL in their rookie season. This week, DuPont and the Silvertips will look to continue their reign atop the WHL’s overall standings when they welcome the Thunderbirds and Giants to Angel of the Winds Arena.
Games this week: vs. Seattle (Feb. 28), vs. Vancouver (Mar. 1)
6. Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL): Having scored a pair of wins over their three games last week, the Medicine Hat Tigers (39-17-3-1) have climbed up the rankings for a second week in a row – this time moving up to sixth – their highest ranking since October 15. The latter should not come as any surprise based on the way the Tigers have been playing as of late. Since January 4, Medicine Hat has won 18 of its last 22 contests (18-2-1-1) and catapulted itself into second place in the WHL’s overall standings. Coming into this week, they stand just five points shy of the Everett Silvertips, who have sat in first place in the WHL since October 27. A big driving force in Medicine Hat’s success these last couple of weeks has no doubt been courtesy of their top 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna (32G-74A in 51 GP). The 17-year-old from Whitehorse, Yukon, was named the Tempo WHL Player of the Week after registering three goals and six assists for nine points in four games going back to last Monday. McKenna is currently on a 35-game point streak (23G-54A over that stretch), which is the longest in the CHL this season. The 35-game point streak is also the longest in the WHL since 2000 (tied with Connor Bedard & Logan Stankoven, who both achieved the feat during the 2022-23 season). Additionally, the 35-game point streak is tied for the fourth longest by a CHL skater in a single season over the last 25 years, trailing only Québec Remparts alumnus Alexander Radulov (50 games in 2005-06), Rimouski Océanic alumnus Sidney Crosby (37 games in 2004-05), and current London Knights forward Easton Cowan (36 games in 2023-24). This week, McKenna will look to extend his point streak when they travel to Regina and Brandon.
Games this week: @ Regina (Feb. 28), @ Brandon (Mar. 1)
7. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): Despite coming into the week having lost three of their last four games, the Kitchener Rangers (40-13-4-1) showed a lot of character this week as they went a perfect 2-0-0-0 to climb up to seventh. Specifically, the Rangers’ two wins were impressive as they came against the Barrie Colts (4-1) and the No.1-ranked London Knights (5-4 OT). The Rangers have now gotten the better of their rivals in London, winning two of their last three meetings against the Knights and their most recent one on the road in London. Thanks to their most recent 5-4 overtime victory over the Knights, the Rangers also became just the second team in the OHL to reach 40 wins and just the fourth to do so across the CHL in 2024-25. They secured their 40th victory thanks to the efforts of 20-year-old forward Adrian Misaljevic (27G-30A in 58 GP), who scored the game-winner in the extra frame and had an assist as he was named the game’s first star. Having also scored a goal against the Colts on Friday, Misaljevic has recorded a point in four straight games. He’s also got points in seven of his last eight outings, and he’s scored a goal in three of his last games. With a career-best 27 goals this season, Misaljevic is closing in on another milestone as he is merely one point shy of his previous single-season best of 58 points – a mark which he set a year ago during the 2023-24 campaign. This week, Misaljevic will look to set a new career high when Kitchener welcomes the Storm and Sting to the Aud before traveling to Owen Sound on Saturday to face the Attack.
Games this week: vs. Guelph (Feb. 25), vs. Sarnia (Feb. 28), @ Owen Sound (Mar. 1)
8. Calgary Hitmen (WHL): Having strung together three impressive victories on the road over the last week, the Calgary Hitmen (37-15-3-2) have jumped up one place to move into eighth in this week’s rankings. Specifically, the Hitmen defeated the Pats (5-0), Wheat Kings (5-0), and Warriors (5-1) over the last seven days – averaging five goals per game and allowing just one marker over the three-game road trip. Going back to January 19, Calgary has won 13 times over their last 16 games (13-3-0-0). Although all three of their wins came on the road last week, the Hitmen have been particularly strong at the Saddledome in Calgary as they hold a 21-4-1-1 record. If you go back to November 22, over their 19 home games during that stretch, the Hitmen have come out victorious 17 times (17-2-0-0). That said, during their latest road trip, it was veteran netminder Daniel Hauser (21-12-2-1 record, 2.76 GAA, .907 SV%, 3 SO in 38 GP), who was excellent for the Hitmen. Named the WHL Goaltender of the Week on Monday, Hauser went 3-0-0-0 with a 0.67 goals-against average, a .969 save percentage, and posted back-to-back shutouts against Regina and Brandon. Since joining Calgary in early January, Hauser has been a force for the club, posting a 13-3-0-0 record along with a 2.09 GAA and .918 save percentage. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Oliver Tulk (36G-57A in 57 GP) had another strong week, leading Calgary in scoring with three goals and four assists over their three road victories. Tulk’s performances have helped him rank fourth in the WHL in terms of scoring with 93 points. This week, Tulk, Hauser, and the Hitmen will look to keep the good times rolling when they face the Broncos, the Rebels, and the Rockets over the next seven days.
Games this week: vs. Swift Current (Feb. 26), @ Red Deer (Feb. 28), vs. Kelowna (Mar. 2)
9. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): Although they earned a point in two of three games last week (1-1-1-0), with two losses over their last three outings, the Windsor Spitfires (39-13-4-1) have slipped three places as they find themselves in ninth. During their three games against the Sting (6-5 OT loss), the Firebirds (5-4 loss), and the Spirit (7-3 win), Windsor struggled to keep the puck out of its net, allowing an average of 4.67 goals per game over the week. Despite their struggles over the last seven days, the Spitfires have still earned a point in eight of their last 10 games (6-2-2-0). With 39 wins, they are also poised to become the third OHL club to cross the 40-win plateau and just the fifth to achieve the feat in the CHL. Meanwhile, speaking of accomplishments, Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas (41G-57A in 52 GP) had a week to remember. The 18-year-old from Vitebsk, Belarus, was named the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week after recording five goals, nine assists, and 14 points over four contests. By recording a pair of goals in Windsor’s 7-3 victory over Saginaw on Sunday, Protas reached the 40-goal mark to become the highest goal-scoring import player in Spitfires franchise history. Additionally, by tallying three assists in that same contest, Protas matched a career-high by finishing the game with five points (2G-3A) against the Spirit. Additionally, not to be forgotten was the play of centreman Ryan Abraham (23G-35A in 55 GP), who amassed five goals and five assists in three outings last week. Having accrued 58 points in 55 games this season, Abraham is on pace to record about 70 points in 2024-25, which would set a new single-season high for the 20-year-old from Livonia, Michigan. This week, Abraham and Protas will look to lead the Spitfires as they hit the road for games in Peterborough, Kingston, and Ottawa.
Games this week: @ Peterborough (Feb. 27), @ Kingston (Feb. 28), @ Ottawa (Mar. 2)
10. Brantford Bulldogs (OHL): Picking up a pair of wins during a three-game road trip last week, the Brantford Bulldogs (36-17-5-0) remain idle at No. 10 in this week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings. Going back to January 5, the Bulldogs have lost on just three occasions over their last 21 games (18-2-1-0), including their most recent 4-2 defeat at the hands of a strong Kingston Frontenacs team last Friday. Outside of the loss, Brantford took down Peterborough (4-3) to start the week, before dropping Ottawa (5-1) on Sunday. In both games, Chicago Blackhawks Nick Lardis (63G-40A in 56 GP) did Nick Lardis things – scoring a hat-trick in both of the Bulldogs’ victories. Lardis now has seven hat-tricks throughout the 2024-25 campaign, as he leads the CHL with 63 goals this season. The Bulldogs forward is ultimately the only player in the CHL to have scored 60 goals as the next closest skater to Lardis in terms of goals is Saginaw Spirit forward Michael Misa at 54. Additionally, by registering his 103rd point of the season on Sunday, Lardis set a new single-season scoring record in Bulldogs’ franchise history, besting the previous mark of 102 points by New York Rangers forward Arthur Kaliyev. As they head into the week, despite sharing the same number of points as the Generals, the Bulldogs continue to hold first place in what is a highly-contested Eastern Conference in the OHL (thanks to their 5-2 record against the Generals this season). Set to play the Generals for the final time this season on Friday night, Brantford will be eager to grab an all-important two points against one of their East Division rivals in order to maintain their place atop the OHL Eastern Conference Standings as the playoffs draw that much closer.
Games this week: vs. Oshawa (Feb. 28), vs. Peterborough (Mar. 1)
