2024-25 CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 19
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 19 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
With a CHL-best 43 wins, including three victories over the last week, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) have now held the No.1 spot for a third straight month. Sitting in second are the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Outside of the London Knights, the Wildcats are the only other team in the CHL to have topped 40 wins so far during the 2024-25 campaign. Finally, rounding out the top three is the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL at No. 3. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts have won four in a row and hold the third-best points percentage of any club in the CHL (.745).
Among the biggest changes of the week are the rise of the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the return of the Brantford Bulldogs of the OHL in the CHL Top-10 Rankings. Having earned a point in 18 of their last 19 games (16-1-1-1), including four victories last week, the Tigers are up three spots to No. 7. Meanwhile, with 16 wins over their last 18 contests (16-1-1-0), the Bulldogs are back in the CHL Top-10 Rankings for the first time since October 1, sitting in tenth position this week.
The next rankings will be released the week of February 24, following the 20th week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 19
1. London Knights (OHL): With 39 wins over their last 45 games (39-4-1-0), including three victories last week, the London Knights (43-8-1-0) continue their reign at No. 1 for a third month in a row. Over the last seven days, the Knights continued their winning ways by stringing together Ws against the Colts (8-4), Greyhounds (7-3), and Firebirds (4-1). The latter included a pair of wins on home ice as the Knights have now won 12 in a row at Canada Life Place dating back to December 15. London captain and Philadelphia Flyers prospect Denver Barkey (22G-48A in 44 GP) recorded three short-handed goals over the club’s three victories last week, bringing him to 13 over his OHL career. Barley’s 13 career short-handed goals mark a new franchise record for the London Knights, besting the previous mark of 12 set by Liam Foudy. With a team-high seven points (4G-3A) over the last week, Barkey also continues to lead the Knights in scoring with 70 points this season. Meanwhile, Edmonton Oilers prospect Sam O’Reilly (18G-35A in 50 GP) had six assists over London’s three victories, extending his point streak to five games (0G-9A over that stretch). Meanwhile, having recorded a point in all three contests, Winnipeg Jets prospect Jacob Julien (10G-29A in 51 GP) extended his current point streak to 12 straight games. This week, the Knights will welcome 2025 NHL Draft prospect Porter Martone and the Brampton Steelheads to London, before facing off against the Otters and No.8-ranked Rangers to close out the weekend. Fans can catch London’s matchup against Brampton live on Friday at 7 p.m. ET for free across the OHL’s X, Facebook, and YouTube platforms along with OHL Live on CHL TV as part of the OHL’s #FridayNightFaceoff program.
Games this week: vs. Brampton (Feb. 21), @ Erie (Feb. 22), vs. Kitchener (Feb. 23)
2. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): Having registered a perfect 3-0-0-0 record over the last week, the Moncton Wildcats (41-9-2-0) remain idle at No. 2 in this week’s rankings. It marks the 16th time over the last 18 weeks that Moncton has ranked among the CHL’s top three clubs. Thanks to their victories over Shawinigan (5-4 SO) and Halifax (3-1 & 3-1), the Wildcats became just the second team in the CHL to break the 40-win plateau this season. With eight wins over their last 10 games, they also continue to sit in first place in the QMJHL overall standings, holding a five-point lead with a game in hand over the No.3-ranked Rimouski Océanic. 2025 NHL Draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers (30G-41A in 47 GP) once again led the way for the Wildcats in scoring last week, registering a team-high four points (0G-4A) during their three wins. With 30 goals and 41 assists this season, Desnoyers is one of just two players in the QMJHL to have registered 30-plus goals and 40-plus assists thus far during the 2024-25 campaign. Desnoyers’ 71 points are also good for sixth among the QMJHL scoring leaders this season. Meanwhile, by picking up a goal in four straight games, 20-year-old forward Markus Vidicek (30G-18A in 52 GP) became the second Moncton skater to reach 30 goals this season. In addition to the four-game goal streak, Vidicek also has registered a point in five straight contests. Over the last month, he’s been particularly good at lighting the lamp, as he has a team-high 10 goals in 10 games since January 24. The 10 goals are twice as many as any Wildcats player over that stretch (Desnoyers – 5G in 10 GP during that stretch). This week, Moncton will head to Nova Scotia to face the Cape Breton Eagles before starting a three-game home stand with a game against the Victoriaville Tigres.
Games this week: @. Cape Breton (Feb. 21), vs. Victoriaville (Feb. 23)
3. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): With four straight victories, including three last week, the Rimouski Océanic (38-12-1-2) continue to hold a spot among the top three teams in the CHL – a position they have now held for three weeks in a row. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts managed the latter by defeating Gatineau (9-3) and Chicoutimi (4-3 SO & 2-1) over the last seven days. With 16 wins in 20 games (16-2-1-1) since New Year’s Eve, Rimouski has won more games than any other QMJHL club over that stretch. The latter has helped place the Océanic within striking distance of the No.2-ranked Moncton Wildcats, who are just five points ahead of them for first place in the QMJHL overall standings. During their three victories last week, QMJHL leading scorer Jonathan Fauchon (40G-45A in 53 GP) and captain Jacob Mathieu (38G-23A in 50 GP) led Rimouski in scoring by both tallying three goals and four assists during that stretch of games. In addition to being the QMJHL’s lead scorer with 75 points this season, Fauchon is the only QMJHL player thus far to have tallied 40-plus goals and 40-plus assists during the 2024-25 campaign. Meanwhile, having scored a goal in three of his last four outings, Mathieu is up to 38 goals on the year and ranks among the QMJHL’s top-five goal-scorers this season. This week, the Océanic will hope to inch closer to the No.2-ranked Wildcats for the top spot in the QMJHL overall standings when they welcome the Baie-Comeau Drakkar for a pair of games at the Colisée Financière Sun Life this weekend.
Games this week: vs. Baie-Comeau (Feb. 22), vs. Baie-Comeau (Feb. 23)
4. Spokane Chiefs (WHL): Amid a current nine-game point streak (7-0-1-1), having gone 3-0-0-1 over the last week, the Spokane Chiefs (37-16-1-1) rose by a couple of places to reach a season-high fourth in this week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings. The latter marks the first time that the Chiefs are ranked among the top-five clubs in the CHL this season. Thanks to their strong week, and namely their 4-2 victory over the Blazers on Monday, the Spokane Chiefs became the second Western Conference team to clinch a berth in the 2025 WHL Playoffs. During their current nine-game point streak, there has been no shortage of offense from Spokane as the Chiefs have scored at least four goals in nine straight games and averaged 5.67 goals per game over that stretch. A big part of their offense continues to come from their top line of 20-year-old forward Shea Van Olm (44G-36A in 53 GP), Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall (39G-64A in 44 GP), and Seattle Kraken prospect Berkly Catton (31G-59A in 44 GP). Since Cristall joined the Chiefs on January 10, Van Olm, Cristall, and Catton have combined for 36 goals and 69 assists (115 points) over 16 games. Cristall and Catton lead all WHL scorers with 43 points since January 10, while Catton’s 17 goals and Van Olm’s 16 rank first and second in the WHL over that stretch of games. Thanks to his play last week, Catton was named the Tempo WHL Player of the Week for the second time this season after he registered two goals and 11 points in four games. Thanks to that performance, Catton is now one of just three players in the WHL to have attained the 90-point plateau in 2024-25. Meanwhile, linemate Cristall became the first skater in the WHL to reach 100 points this season after he collected four goals and eight points last week. Only Saginaw Spirit forward and 2025 NHL Draft prospect Michael Misa (108 points) has more points than Cristall (103 points) during the 2024-25 season. This week, the Chiefs will look to maintain their place among the top five when they face the Americans for a pair of games before they travel to Portland for a showdown with the Winterhawks on Sunday.
Games this week: vs. Tri-City (Feb. 21), @ Tri-City (Feb. 22), @ Portland (Feb. 23)
5. Everett Silvertips (WHL): With six wins over their last 10 games, the Everett Silvertips (39-10-4-3) slipped by one spot this week, falling to fifth. The Silvertips have ranked among the top five for 15 straight weeks dating back to October 22. Over the last week, Everett came away with a pair of wins against Prince George (3-1) and Victoria (3-2), while their only loss was a 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Cougars. Averaging a WHL-best 4.23 goals per game this season, the Silvertips struggled to find twine over their most recent five-game road trip in British Columbia – averaging just 2.6 goals per game during that stretch. This past Monday, however, Calgary Flames prospect Eric Jamieson (12G-19A in 55 GP) had no problem lighting the lamp as the Everett defenceman scored all three of the Silvertips’ goals during his team’s 3-2 victory over the Royals in Victoria. The hat-trick was the second of Jamieson’s WHL career. Meanwhile, 2027 NHL Draft prospect Landon DuPont (13G-39A in 52 GP) registered a goal and an assist last week as the 15-year-old continued his impressive rookie season. DuPont leads all WHL rookies with 52 points and 39 assists this season. This week, the Silvertips will welcome the Winterhawks to Angel of the Winds Arena on Friday night before heading out to Seattle for a date with the Thunderbirds on Saturday.
Games this week: vs. Portland (Feb. 21), @ Seattle (Feb. 22)
6. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): Having earned a point in five straight games (4-0-1-0), the Windsor Spitfires (38-12-3-1) have moved up a pair of spots to reach sixth this week. Over the last seven days, the Spitfires became the third OHL team to clinch its playoff spot following the No.1-ranked Knights and No.8-ranked Rangers. Windsor put together an impressive week by scoring victories over Sarnia (8-2) and Owen Sound (4-1) with their only defeat coming at the hands of the Saginaw Spirit in overtime (3-2). During those three games, both Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas (37G-49A in 49 GP) and Los Angeles Kings prospect Liam Greentree (38G-54A in 53 GP) continued to lead the way for Windsor as both led the team in scoring with seven and six points respectively. With points in five straight games, Protas continues to rank among the top five leaders for goals (37) and points (86) in the OHL. Similarly, Greentree sits among those top-five leaders thanks to his 38 goals and 92 points this season. The Kings’ 2024 first-round pick is on a six-game point streak, having scored a goal in four of those six contests. This week, the Spitfires will hit the road for games against the Sting and Firebirds, before returning home to face the reigning Memorial Cup champion Saginaw Spirit.
Games this week: @ Sarnia (Feb. 21), @ Flint (Feb. 22), vs. Saginaw (Feb. 23)
7. Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL): As the only team ranked in the CHL Top-10 Rankings to have gone a perfect 4-0-0-0 last week, the Medicine Hat Tigers (37-16-3-1) made the biggest of any club – climbing up three spots to seventh this week. Having registered a point in five straight games (4-0-1-0), the Tigers have won 16 times and suffered just one regulation loss over their last 19 contests (16-1-1-1). The Tigers’ 16 wins dating back to January 4 are the most of any WHL club over that stretch and they helped the Tigers clinch their spot in the 2025 WHL Playoffs on Monday. Last week, throughout Medicine Hat’s four victories, 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna (30G-69A in 48 GP) registered a team-high seven points (2G-5A). By registering a point in all four games, McKenna extended his point streak to 32 straight games (21G-49A over that stretch), which ranks as the longest point streak in the CHL this season. Having not been held off the scoresheet since November 6 (and on just three occasions over 48 games this season), the 17-year-old from Whitehorse, Yukon, comes into the week one point shy of reaching the 100-point plateau for the first time in his WHL career. Meanwhile, Minnesota Wild prospect Ryder Ritchie (22G-26A in 42 GP) co-led the team in scoring with McKenna last week, having also tallied two goals and five assists in four games. Ritchie is currently in the midst of an eight-game point streak and he posted a season-high four points in an important 5-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Monday. Additionally, having led all WHL netminders with a 2-0-0-0 record, a 0.50 goals-against average, a .982 save percentage, and one shutout, Jordan Switzer (20-6-2-0 record, 2.87 GAA, .893 SV% & 2 SO in 29 GP) was named the WHL Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. This week, the Tigers will hope to continue their climb up the CHL Top-10 Rankings when they welcome the Oil Kings and Blazers to Medicine Hat before heading north to face Edmonton On Sunday.
Games this week: vs. Edmonton (Feb. 21), vs. Kamloops (Feb. 22), @ Edmonton (Feb. 23)
8. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): With three losses over their last four contests, the Kitchener Rangers (38-13-4-1) have slipped down the rankings for the third time in four weeks. Specifically, this week, Kitchener has fallen three places to find itself in eighth. Over their last 10 games, the Rangers haven’t been at their best as they have gone 5-4-1-0. The latter includes losses to Oshawa (4-3 OT), Kingston (4-2) and Peterborough (5-3) over the last week. The Rangers’ recent struggles could partially be explained by their play on the road. Nine of Kitchener’s last 11 games have come on the road, and the Rangers have earned just two victories during their last six trips away from the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. Over their three games last week, the Rangers were led in scoring by Vegas Golden Knights prospect Trent Swick (26G-27A in 51 GP), Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jack Pridham (19G-21A in 37 GP), and Colorado Avalanche prospect Christian Humphreys (5G-15A in 18 GP), who each tallied four points. Pridham and Humphreys, who joined the Rangers in-season after time spent in the BCHL and NCAA respectively, have both registered points in five of their last six outings as the pair have become reliable scorers for Kitchener. This week, the Rangers will welcome the Colts to the Aud on Friday before they travel to London to face the No.1-ranked Knights on Sunday.
Games this week: vs. Barrie (Feb. 21), @ London (Feb. 23)
9. Calgary Hitmen (WHL): Having split their four games over the last week (2-2-0-0), the Calgary Hitmen (34-15-3-2) tumbled down two spots as they sit ninth this week. Over the last seven days, the Hitmen earned wins against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (3-2 OT) and the Swift Current Broncos (5-2), while falling short to the Saskatoon Blades (6-3) and the Prince Albert Raiders (4-2). Despite dropping two of their last three, the Hitmen have still won 10 times in 13 games over the last month. Throughout their four games in the last seven days, 20-year-old forwards Oliver Tulk (33G-53A in 54 GP) and Connor Hvidston (18G-33A in 54 GP) led Calgary in scoring by each tallying three goals and one assist. For Tulk, his four-point week allowed him to keep pace with the WHL’s leading scorers as his 86 points on the season have him sitting fourth in the league. Meanwhile, Hvidston has recorded a point in seven of his last nine outings, having amassed 12 points (6G-6A) over that stretch. Meanwhile, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Ben Kindel (30G-55A in 52 GP this season) tallied a goal and two assists over the last week. Kindel became the second Hitmen skater (after Tulk) to tally 30 goals in 2024-25. With 85 points through 52 games, Kindle sits sixth among all scorers in the WHL and continues to trail only Saginaw’s Michael Misa (108 points) among 2025 NHL Draft-eligible skaters in the CHL. This week, the Hitmen will aim to string wins together as they get set to travel to Regina, Brandon, and Moose Jaw in the hopes of securing their spot in the 2025 WHL Playoffs.
Games this week: @ Regina (Feb. 19), @ Brandon (Feb. 21), @ Moose Jaw (Feb. 22)
10. Brantford Bulldogs (OHL): Riding an OHL-best nine-game point streak (8-0-1-0), the Brantford Bulldogs (34-16-5-0) are back in the CHL Top-10 Rankings for the first time since October 1, sitting in tenth this week. The Bulldogs have been on an absolute tear since January 5, having won 16 times over their last 18 contests (16-1-1-0). The Bulldogs’ only regulation loss over that stretch came at the hands of the previously ranked Barrie Colts, while their only other loss was a 3-2 overtime defeat against the No.6-ranked Spitfires. Thanks to their strong play, the Bulldogs managed to clinch their spot in the OHL playoffs thanks to an 8-6 victory over the Greyhounds on Monday. During that contest, New Jersey Devils prospect Cole Brown (29G-30A in 54 GP) scored his second hat-trick in three games. Brown has been absolutely electric of late. The 19-year-old from Aurora, Ont., has registered a point in nine straight games (11G-8A over that stretch) and strung together three straight multi-goal contests. During Brantford’s 10-1 victory over the IceDogs on Valentine’s Day, Brown was actually one of three Bulldogs players to record a hat-trick along with Chicago Blackhawks prospect Marek Vanacker (17G-13A in 32 GP) and Nick Lardis (57G-39A in 53 GP). The latter marked the first time since 1981 that three different players recorded a hat-trick in a single OHL game. Thanks to his recent strong play, Brown was named the Cogeco OHL Player of the Week, recording seven points (5G-2A) in a pair of Bulldogs victories before he scored another hat-trick in Monday’s 8-6 win over the Soo. Meanwhile, with 57 goals in 2024-25, Lardis currently stands as the only 50-goal scorer across the CHL so far this season. Lardis has actually scored a goal in 16 straight games dating back to January 8 (25G over that stretch), which stands as the longest goal-scoring streak of any player in the CHL this season. This week, the Lardis and the Bulldogs will look to extend their respective streaks when they head north to face the Petes, the Frontenacs, and the 67’s.
Games this week: @ Peterborough (Feb. 20), @ Kingston (Feb. 21), @ Ottawa (Feb. 23)
