CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 17
Today, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) announced the Week 17 edition of its CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2024-25 season.
Holding a CHL-best 38 wins and a .819 points percentage, the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) remain in the top spot for a tenth week in a row. Meanwhile, having climbed up a pair of places, the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) are back in second – sitting among the top three for the 14th time in 16 weeks. Only the Knights have more wins and a better points percentage across the CHL than the Wildcats (36 wins & .804). Lastly, having also jumped up two spots, the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL rank among the top three for the first time since October 22. The 2025 Memorial Cup hosts have earned a point in 13 of their last 14 (11-1-1-1), including 11 wins over that stretch, and trail only Moncton in the QMJHL overall standings.
Among other notable changes to this week’s rankings is the return of the OHL’s Barrie Colts to the Top 10 for the first time in a month. With a point in eight straight games (7-0-1-0), the longest active streak of its kind in the OHL, the Colts have climbed up to tenth. Additionally, a pair of Western Hockey League (WHL) clubs are among this week’s biggest risers. With seven wins over their last nine, averaging 6.00 goals per game over that stretch, the Spokane Chiefs are up to sixth. Plus, amid the longest active point streak in the CHL at 13 games (12-0-0-1), the Medicine Hat Tigers have risen for a second straight week – this time to No. 7.
The next rankings will be released the week of February 10, following the 18th week of regular season action in all three member leagues of the CHL.
CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 17
1. London Knights (OHL): As they continue to lead all CHL clubs with 38 victories and a .819 points percentage, the London Knights (38-8-1-0) are the No.1-ranked team in the CHL for a tenth week in a row. Over the last seven days, the Knights doubled up Erie at home 4-2 before dropping a tightly contested 4-3 game to the No.8-ranked Spitfires in Windsor on Sunday. The regulation loss to Windsor was just the Knights’ fourth in 39 games since October 20 – which have all come at the hands of teams either ranked in the Top 10 (Windsor twice & Kitchener once) or ones that previously were (Oshawa). During their two games last week, Philadelphia Flyers prospect Denver Barkey (18G-44A in 39 GP) and San Jose Sharks prospect Kasper Halttunen (6G-14A in 19 GP) led the way for London with four points each. Both Barkey and Halttunen have strung together four-game point streaks, and the pair have found twine in three of those contests. Meanwhile, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan (17G-21A in 28 GP) picked up an assist in each of London’s games, which allowed him to extend his regular season point streak to 64 games. Plus, to cap off the month of January, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Alexei Medvedev (17-5-1-0 record, 2.46 GAA, .923 SV% & 2 SO in 25 GP) earned the victory against the Otters on Friday by turning aside 27-of-29 shots. In recognition of his strong month, Medvedev was named the OHL Goaltender of the Month for January after he went 4-1-1-0 with a 1.99 goals-against average and .937 save percentage with one shutout. This week, the Knights will look to be the first club across the CHL to clinch their spot in the playoffs when they welcome the No.5-ranked Rangers tonight, before later hosting the Petes on Friday night.
Games this week: vs. Kitchener (Feb. 4), vs. Peterborough (Feb. 7)
2. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): With a pair of wins over the Cape Breton Eagles over the last week, the Moncton Wildcats (36-8-2-0) are back in the top three having moved up to second in this week’s rankings. It marks the 14th time over the last 16 weeks that the Wildcats rank among the top three clubs in the CHL Top 10. With 36 victories and an .804 points percentage, only the No.1-ranked Knights have more wins and a higher points percentage across the CHL than the Wildcats. During their first win of the week over the Eagles, 20-year-old Markus Vidicek (26G-17A in 46 GP) scored his second hat trick in three games to lead Moncton to victory. Two nights later, it was 2025 NHL Draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers (29G-36A in 41 GP) potting a pair of goals, while Detroit Red Wings prospect Rudy Guimond (6-0-0-0 record, 1.67 GAA, .947 SV% & 1 SO in 6 GP) registered a 29-save shutout in a 3-0 Wildcats victory. Desnoyers has points in 17 of his last 18 outings, as his 65 points rank fourth in the QMJHL. Meanwhile, Guimond has won all six of his career starts in the QMJHL since he came over to Moncton from the USHL’s Cedar Rapids RoughRiders back at the end of November. This week, the Wildcats will look to maintain their place among the top three when they play the Eagles for the third time in seven days, before they travel for games in Saint John and Charlottetown.
Games this week: vs. Cape Breton (Feb. 6), @ Saint John (Feb. 7), @ Charlottetown (Feb. 8)
3. Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL): As one of two teams ranked in the CHL Top-10 Rankings to go a perfect 3-0-0-0 last week, the Rimouski Océanic (33-11-1-2) have climbed their way back into the top three for the first time since October 22. Over their last 14 games, the 2025 Memorial Cup hosts earned a point in 13 of those contests, including collecting 11 wins over that stretch (11-1-1-1). Over the last week, Rimouski improved their record at home to 19-2-1-1, as they scored wins over Victoriaville (4-1), Sherbrooke (3-2), and Québec (8-2) at Colisée Financière Sun Life. The Océanic’s two regulation losses at home are the fewest of any club in the CHL. Over their three victories on home ice last week, QMJHL leading scorer Jonathan Fauchon (37G-40A in 47 GP) and Washington Capitals prospect Eriks Mateiko (20G-10A in 32 GP) led the way with six points each. Specifically, Fauchon tallied four goals and two assists over the week as the 21-year-old now holds a share of the goal-scoring lead in the QMJHL with 37 goals. Meanwhile, Mateiko is starting to catch fire with his new club. Over his last six games with the Océanic, the Latvian forward has found the scoresheet in five of those contests, having also registered four multi-point outings over that stretch. Meanwhile, having won eight straight victories, 2026 NHL Draft prospect William Lacelle (22-2-0-2 record, 2.17 GAA, .916 SV% & 3 SO in 26 GP) was the QMJHL Rookie of the Month for January having gone 7-0-0-1 with a 2.45 goals-against average and .909 save percentage during the last month. This week, the Océanic will hit the road to face the Phoenix, Saguenéens, and Remparts.
Games this week: @ Sherbrooke (Feb. 5), @ Chicoutimi (Feb. 7), @ Québec (Feb. 8)
4. Everett Silvertips (WHL): Having split their four games over the last week, which included tough losses to the No.6-ranked Chiefs (10-3) and the No.7-ranked Tigers (7-3), the Everett Silvertips (36-8-4-3) have slipped to fourth in this week’s rankings. Although they nabbed a pair of wins over Kelowna (7-3) and Kamloops (5-4 OT), the Silvertips lost by a combined score of 17-6 against Spokane and Medicine Hat – which helps explain why Everett finds itself outside the top three for the first time since December 3. During their four-game schedule over the last seven days, 2025 NHL Draft prospect Carter Bear (36G-39A in 44 GP) led the Silvertips in scoring with eight points (4G-4A). Bear continues to be a force for Everett as he ranks sixth in scoring (75 points) and second in goals (36) in the WHL. The 18-year-old from West St. Paul, Man., has also tallied a point in 11 of his last 12 games (10G-11A over that stretch), scoring a goal in eight of those contests. Meanwhile, over the last week, 15-year-old rookie Landon DuPont (12G-38A in 47 GP) collected four points (1G-3A) as he was named the WHL Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. By reaching the 50-point plateau this weekend, the 2027 NHL Draft prospect DuPont became the first rookie defenceman in the WHL to reach 50 points since Hockey Hall of Famer and Kamloops Blazers legend Scott Niedermayer achieved the feat 35 years ago (in 1989-90). The 15-year-old is first in scoring among all first-year CHL blueliners and third among all rookie skaters with 12 goals and 38 assists in 47 games. This weekend, DuPont and the Silvertips will aim to be the first HL club to clinch a berth in the 2025 WHL Playoffs when they travel to face the Blazers and Giants.
Games this week: @ Kamloops (Feb. 7), @ Vancouver (Feb. 8)
5. Kitchener Rangers (OHL): Having wrapped up a four-game road trip with a 3-1-0-0 record, the Kitchener Rangers (35-10-3-1) are down a couple of spots and sit fifth in this week’s rankings. Since coming back from the holiday break, the Rangers own a 12-3-1-0 record, having earned victories over plenty of strong teams, including a 5-2 win over No.1-ranked London back on January 21. Their recent stretch of success has Kitchener ranked second in the OHL and within striking distance of the Knights for first. Over the last week, Kitchener secured shootout victories against the Greyhounds and the Firebirds, before they fell 5-4 to the Spirit on Saturday night. Both Colorado Avalanche prospect Christian Humphreys (2G-9A in 11 GP) and Vegas Golden Knights prospect Trent Swick (22G-25A in 44 GP) led the Rangers scoring five points in those three contests. Swick has found the scoresheet in five of his last six games, which includes four multi-point outings. Meanwhile, set to wrap up his first month in the OHL after beginning the year in the NCAA with the Michigan Wolverines, Humphreys also has registered a point in five of his last six, as he continues to average a point per game. This week, the Rangers will look to score a second straight win against the No.1-ranked Knights tonight, before closing out the weekend with games against the Attack and IceDogs.
Games this week: @ London (Feb. 4), vs. Owen Sound (Feb. 7), @ Niagara (Feb. 8)
6. Spokane Chiefs (WHL): As one of two teams ranked in the CHL Top-10 Rankings to register a perfect 3-0-0-0 last week, the Spokane Chiefs (33-16-0-0) are up two spots in this week’s rankings – sitting at a season-best sixth. Spokane has now won seven of its last nine games, having scored 54 goals (or an average of 6.00 goals per game) over that stretch. Last week, they continued their offensive onslaught by recording victories over Victoria (5-1), No.4-ranked Everett (10-3), and Vancouver (5-2) by a combined score of 20-6. Over those seven days, Washington Capitals prospect Andrew Cristall (34G-55A in 38 GP) led all WHL skaters with three goals and eight assists for 11 points during the Chiefs’ three wins. Cristall’s efforts during the last week were recognized on Monday as he was named Tempo WHL Player of the Week for the third time this season. The 20-year-old Cristall (who is celebrating his 20th birthday today) is riding a nine-game point streak that’s seen him pile up eight goals and 21 assists – good for an average of three points per game during his current streak. Cristall’s performances of late have propelled him to the top of the WHL and CHL scoring boards with 88 points this season. Additionally, no skater in the CHL is scoring at a higher rate than the Capitals prospect, who is averaging an impressive 2.34 points per game in 2024-25. This week, Cristall and the Chiefs will look to continue their climb up the WHL standings and CHL Top-10 Rankings when they travel to face the Thunderbirds on Friday night before returning home to face off against the Royals on Saturday.
Games this week: @ Seattle (Feb. 7), vs. Victoria (Feb. 8)
7. Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL): Having earned a point in 13 straight games (12-0-0-1) over the last month, the longest active point streak in the CHL, the Medicine Hat Tigers have climbed up the rankings for a second week in a row – this time jumping up to No. 7. Before suffering their first loss since January 4 by falling 4-3 in a shootout to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday, the Tigers had reeled off 12 straight wins, including victories over Wenatchee (5-2), No.4-ranked Everett (7-3), and Portland (7-2) during a road trip through the U.S. Pacific Northwest last week. The Tigers, thanks to their current 13-game point streak, now trail the No. 4-ranked Silvertips in the WHL’s overall standings. During their busy four-game schedule over the last seven days, captain Oasiz Wiesblatt (23G-50A in 50 GP) and 2026 NHL Draft prospect Gavin McKenna (27G-61A in 42 GP) led the Tigers in scoring, having both registered 10 points over that stretch. Wiesblatt now ranks seventh in the WHL with 73 points, as he is on pace to set personal bests for goals, assists, and points this season. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old McKenna extended his point streak to 26 games on Saturday. His streak currently ranks as the second longest in the CHL this season behind only London’s Easton Cowan (28). McKenna’s 88 points in 2024-25 sit tied for second among CHL scorers (just one point shy of Spokane’s Andrew Cristall), while his 61 assists are the most of any CHL skater thus far. This week, Wiesblatt, McKenna, and the Tigers will aim to extend their point streak as they return home for games against the Broncos and Raiders.
Games this week: vs. Swift Current (Feb. 7), vs. Prince Alberta (Feb. 8)
8. Windsor Spitfires (OHL): Having split their games over the last week, the Windsor Spitfires (34-11-2-1) have slipped a couple of places to find themselves in eighth. Windsor got off on the wrong foot by falling short at home against Flint 5-1, but they scored an impressive 4-3 victory against the No.1-ranked Knights on Sunday. The Spitfires are actually one of just three teams to have defeated London in regulation since October 20 – and they are the only club to have done it twice over that stretch. To accomplish the latter, Windsor didn’t make things easy, as they were forced to rally from a three-goal deficit to beat London. Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Protas (34G-43A in 43 GP) scored a pair of goals in the Spitfires’ come-from-behind win over London, while Chicago Blackhawks prospect AJ Spellacy (13G-14A in 44 GP) tallied the game-winner while shorthanded. Protas’ multi-goal effort extended his point streak to seven straight games, as he continues to rank among the top-five leading scorers in the OHL. Conversely, for Spellacy, after going 11 games without a goal since coming back from the holiday break, he now has two goals over his last four outings. This week, Windsor will aim to improve on its 19-3-0-1 home record when they welcome Saginaw, Sarnia, and Brantford to WFCU Centre.
Games this week: vs. Saginaw (Feb. 5), vs. Sarnia (Feb. 7), vs. Brantford (Feb. 8)
9. Calgary Hitmen (WHL): With two wins in three games last week, the Calgary Hitmen (30-13-3-2) come in at No.9, having ranked among the CHL Top 10 for the fourth week in a row. Over the last seven days, the Hitmen scored a pair of wins against Edmonton (6-0 & 5-2) before falling short at home in their lone loss of the week against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (4-3). Since New Year’s Day, Calgary has won 12 of 15 games (12-2-0-1) with their only losses coming against the No.9-ranked Tigers and the Hurricanes, who are just three points back of the Hitmen in the WHL’s Eastern Conference. Calgary’s offense continues to provide them with a big boost, as they have now recorded four goals or more 11 times in 15 games since January 1 (equating to an average of 4.2 points per game). During the last week, 20-year-old forward Connor Hvidston (14G-31A in 48 GP) led the Hitmen in scoring by amassing six points (2G-4A) in three games, including registering consecutive multi-point outings against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Oliver Tulk (28G-51A in 48 GP) continued to shine as he nabbed a pair of goals and assists in the Hitmen’s three contests. Tulk ranks among the WHL’s top five for both assists (51) and scoring (79 points) in 2024-25. Lastly, now five games into his return from a lower-body injury that kept him out of the lineup for roughly three weeks, Ottawa Senators prospect Carter Yakemchuk (15G-25A in 36 GP) has strung together a four-game point streak. Specifically, Yakemchuk has one goal and five assists over his last four contests. This week, Calgary will begin a three-game homestand as they welcome the Raiders and Hurricanes to the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Games this week: vs. Prince Albert (Feb. 5), vs. Edmonton (Feb. 7)
10. Barrie Colts (OHL): With points in eight straight games (7-0-1-0), including seven wins, the Barrie Colts (31-14-2-1) are once again ranked among the CHL’s Top 10 for the first time in a month. The Colts helped find their way back on this list by securing victories over Ottawa (5-3) and Niagara (7-6 OT), while also earning a point in a loss to the Generals (3-2 OT) in Oshawa. Over their eight-game point streak, which is the longest active streak of its kind in the OHL, the Colts are averaging 4.38 goals per game. Leading the way offensively over those eight games has been none other than Dallas Stars prospect Emil Hemming (13G-21A in 42 GP), who amassed a team-high 13 points (7G-6A) over Barrie’s current point streak. The Finnish forward has registered five multi-point outings over his last seven games. Right behind Hemming, Vancouver Canucks prospect Riley Patterson (19G-27A in 46 GP) and 2025 NHL Draft prospect Kashawn Aitcheson (17G-21A in 45 GP) both have chipped in 12 points over the last eight games. Now amid a seven-game point streak (6G-6A over that stretch), Aitcheson has catapulted into the top-10 scoring defenceman in the OHL with 36 points this season. Meanwhile, averaging a point per game in 2024-25, Patterson leads the Colts in scoring with 46 points. This week, the Colts will carry on with a five-game home stand with contests against the Frontenacs and Greyhounds.
Games this week: vs. Kingston (Feb. 4), vs. Soo (Feb. 8)
