Top Prospect teams selected Monday
The process of selecting the teams for the 2000 Home Hardware Canadian Hockey League Top Prospect Game will take place in a noon hour luncheon at the Hot Stove Lounge at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre on Monday, January 31. Head Coaches Bobby Orr and Don Cherry will be present to select their respective teams for the game that will feature forty of the CHL’s top prospects that are eligible for selection in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
The 2000 Home Hardware CHL Top Prospects Game will be played at the Air Canada Centre on February 2 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be telecast live on CTV Sportsnet.
The series between Orr and Cherry is deadlocked at two wins apiece. Cherry will have Brian Kilrea of the Ottawa 67’s as his co-coach. Orr will be joined behind the bench by Dean Clark of the Calgary Hitmen and Roger Dejoie of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
The 40 players begin preparations for the game on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. at Maple Leaf Gardens. Players will be available for interviews and photos from 8:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.. The two teams will hit the Gardens’ ice for practices starting at 2:30 . Tuesday’s practices begin at 9:00 a.m. and the Skill testing starts at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon at Maple Leaf Gardens. Access to the Gardens is through the Church Street entrance.
