Tigers’ Linden Vey Named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Linden Vey of the Medicine Hat Tigers is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 10. Vey scored nine points with four goals and five assists along with a plus-minus rating of plus-6 in three games.
Vey picked up three assists as third star of the game on Monday in a 7-5 Game six victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings to lead the Tigers to a berth in the WHL’s Eastern Conference Semi-Final. Vey led the Tigers to a quick 2-0 series lead over the Red Deer Rebels with a four-point game on Friday with two goals and two assists as first star of a 9-1 Game one win, followed by a pair of goals as third star of a 5-0 win in Game two on Saturday.
Vey, a 19-year-old from Wakaw, SK, is playing in his fourth WHL season with the Tigers. The Los Angeles Kings prospect selected in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft currently leads the WHL playoff scoring race with 18 points in eight games. This season he captured the Bob Clarke Trophy as the league’s Top Scorer with 116 points in 69 games.
Also considered for the award this week was Olivier Dame-Malka of the Lewiston MAINEiacs who scored five goals and two assists for seven points in two games. In the OHL, Tom Kuhnhackl of the Windsor Spitfires scored four goals and one assist for five points in three games.
