TPH finishes atop Nash Division with win over Flyers
With a 4-1 win over the Don Mills Flyers, TPH Hockey clinch top spot in the Nash division and become the first team to advance to the 2025 OHL Cup quarterfinals.
With two goals in the first from Robert Matson (2) and Benjamin Collins (2) TPH jumped out to a 2-0 lead. TPH would double the lead in the second after goals from Colton Colby (1) and Norman Greene (2), holding the lead behind goaltender Mason Courville’s 25 save performance.
Coming in, Courville and his team knew it was going to be a tough game saying, “We knew it was going to be a tough game, they’re the number one team in Ontario for a reason, we were able to play our game and had success.”
“It means a lot to us, I know a lot of Canadian teams probably doubted us, but we dug in and found a way,” said Courville, discussing his team moving onto the quarterfinals.
Caden Bell (4) scored the lone goal for Don Mills on the powerplay with Lincoln Edwards picking up the assist on the play.
TPH will wrap up their round robin tomorrow against Niagara as they look to finish with a perfect record. Don Mills can clinch their spot in the quarters in their final game with a win over Waterloo tomorrow morning at 9:45am.
