TPH defeats Niagara, improves to 4-0 record
Nash Division champions TPH closed out round-robin play at the 2025 OHL Cup with a gritty 3–2 win over the Niagara North Stars.
TPH struck first in the opening period as Cooper John (1) capitalized early to make it 1–0. Niagara answered in the second, with Anthony Stasiowski (1) tying the game and setting up a tense final frame.
The third period saw both teams push for the advantage. TPH regained the lead through Cole Mazzoni (1), but the North Stars quickly responded with Miller Bryan (1) evening the score at 2–2.
Paxton Couture (2) delivered the game-winner late in the third, securing the victory and preserving TPH’s perfect record. “We focused on playing with intensity and sticking to our system because if we get away from it, mistakes happen,” Couture said. “The team continued to battle, and when I stepped onto the ice, I recognized an opportunity off the face-off. I took a hard shot, and it was great to celebrate with my teammates.”
With the win, TPH finished the round-robin at 4-0-0 as they enter Quarter-Final action tomorrow at 12:15pm. Niagara wrapped up their tournament with a hard-fought 1-3-0 record.
