Titans defeat Canucks 5-1, secure Quarter-Final berth
The Toronto Titans secured a 5-1 victory over the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks, punching their ticket to the OHL Cup quarter-finals.
The Titans came out flying, establishing their presence early with a quick goal from Jeremy Freeman (3). They added to their lead in the second period with two more goals, courtesy of Max Delisle (2) and Michael Tang (2).
“We’ve been good,” said Max Delisle after the game. “We’ve been working hard, making plays, and playing the right way. Obviously, it’s a big tournament, so the boys are fired up.”
In the third period, the Titans continued their dominance with a power-play goal from Ty Robar (2). Despite their 4-0 deficit, the Canucks utilized their special teams units to effectively minimize the Titans’ scoring chances on the man advantage and also capitalize on their own, courtesy of a power-play marker from Myles Dunn (1).
The final goal of the match would come from Xavier Rowe (1), who ultimately sealed the victory for the Titans. Overall, the Titans outshot the Canucks 43-22, showcasing their offensive firepower throughout the tournament thus far.
“Our hard work and winning every game is why everyone’s scared of us,” Delisle added. “So if we keep working hard and playing the right way, we shouldn’t lose a game.”
Both teams have the rest of the night off and will look to close out their round-robin play with a bang on Wednesday.
