Theriault’s trio sinks Admirals
Team NOHA has won twice at the OHL Cup for the first time since 2013 thanks to a hat-trick from Sault Ste. Marie, ON, product Lucas Theriault who paved the way to a 4-0 win over the Southern Tier Admirals.
Brett Jacklin also found the back of the net while defenceman Brandon Atkins collected two helpers as the NOHA improved to 2-1 on the showcase for second place in the Nash Division following Thursday’s action.
Theriault, who has four Soo Thunderbirds Midget teammates alongside him on the team, says Team NOHA has taken gradual steps forward over the past two days.
“We’re getting better and better as we go,” he said. “There are some great teams here and the action is a lot faster and more physical than what some of us are used to, but we’re holding our own.”
The NOHA squad also consists of several players who have come together as teammates after years spent facing one another.
“It’s been a lot of fun to play with guys from other teams that you’ve gotten used to playing against,” he added. “We’re all looking forward to facing the Marlies tomorrow.”
They won’t have to wait long. Team NOHA squares off with the Toronto Marlboros bright and early at 8:30am on Friday.
Southern Tier drops to 1-2 in the loss and goes up against the Quinte Red Devils on Friday afternoon.
