Oakville dominates in 9-1 win over Sun County
The Oakville Rangers improved to 2-1, dominating the Sun County Panthers in a 9-1 win fuelled by four-point performances from Jaxson Harismowich (0-4-4) and Jonny Brooks (3-1-4).
Adding to Brooks’ (3) three markers, Ethan Belchetz (2) and Evan Headrick (3) each registered three-point showings, while Rowan Sang (2), Parker Graham (1) and Matthew Ross (2) also found the back of the net.
“The boys continued to battle hard after a tough tournament opener, but we’ve really bounced back and put in great team effort,” said Brooks. “We have a tough opponent coming up in TPH Hockey, so we’re going to get ready and prepare for tomorrow night.”
Jake Ceranic remained consistent between the pipes, stopping 15 of the 16 shots that came his way.
Falling to 0-2, Jaakko Wycisk (1) registered the Panthers’ lone marker, breaking up the Oakville shutout with five minutes remaining.
The Panthers will look for their first win of the tournament at 8:15am on Wednesday as they take on the York-Simcoe Express. The Rangers will rest up, returning to action against undefeated TPH Hockey at 5:15pm.
