Luchanko’s five point surge leads Jr. Knights to big win
The London Jr. Knights locked down their second win of the tournament as they dominated the OMHA champion York Simcoe Express 8-0 on Thursday morning.
Leading the Knights to victory, Jett Luchanko (3) had a five-point game scoring a hat-trick and two assists as Lucas Line (1), Brodie McConnell-Barker (1), Matthew Souliere (2), Mason Landry (2), and Talan Palmer (1) also contributed scoring individual goals.
London netminder Brogan Colquhoun had a perfect performance, blocking 15 shots for the shutout win.
“It felt great to get the shutout, it was a comeback win for me after losing our first game. I felt like I definitely stood my ground, the win’s an important two points for our team. We snapped out of our way after having two weeks off and pushed through as a team”, said Colquhoun.
Luchanko’s high-scoring performance earned him Player of the Game for London, as Nicholas Ferrante took home the honours for the Express.
London looks to clinch a spot in the Quarter-Finals as they face off against the Don Mills Flyers at 1:15pm while York-Simcoe prepares for the Vaughan Kings at 1:45pm.
