Four-goal first leads Colts atop Lindros Division
The Barrie Jr. Colts put a stamp on their perfect round robin with a 5-0 win over Team NOHA. Securing the top spot in the Lindros Division and advancing to the quarterfinals.
With five different goal scorers for Barrie, the Colts received contributions up and down the lineup. Scoring four goals in the first period, James Elliott (2), Brock Chitaroni (1), Logan Hawery (4), and Alex McLean (1) all lit the lamp for the Colts. Troy Patton (2) would net the Colts’ fifth of the game. Goaltender Jason Schaubel turned in a 15-save shutout for the Colts.
Schaubel received Zephyr Player of the Game for Barrie but gave tons of credit to the players in front of him saying, “I think my job is pretty easy when you got the team in front of me that I do. We got a lot of talented guys who make my job pretty easy to keep the puck out of the net.”
“I think they always give us a good battle. It’s always a physical game when we play them. We’re just going to have to rest up and come prepared for a battle,” said Schaubel. Barrie will get set to play in quarterfinal #3 tomorrow at 10:00am against a team they are very familiar with in the Oakville Rangers. Barrie has won both of their previous matchups against the Rangers and will look for win number three on Thursday.
In addition to Schaubel, Mason Walker received Zephyr Player of the Game honours for Team NOHA.
NOHA finishes with four points and a record of 2-2. Four players finished with three points atop the team in scoring.
