Meredith stops all 36 as Nats blank TPH
A 36-save shutout from goaltender James Meredith led the wild card entry Toronto Nationals to a 1-0 win over TPH Hockey.
A power play goal from Nationals forward Joseph Zoldos (1) midway through the second proved to be all the Nationals would need in a tight, low-scoring affair, as despite lots of scoring chances, they were able to keep TPH off the scoresheet.
“Our team played well defensively, and it was good to come out with the win. That was a big one for our group heading into tomorrow,” said Meredith as he discussed his shutout and the importance of the team’s win.
TPH goaltender Brody Schocker (20 SV) was also strong between the pipes as he earned BARDOWN Player of the Game honours for TPH Hockey.
The 2-1 Nationals will look to finish the round robin strong tomorrow afternoon as they take on the Huron-Perth Lakers (0-3) at 3:00pm. While TPH (1-1) takes on the Halton Hurricanes (2-0) tomorrow morning at 11:30 am
BARDOWN PLAYER OF THE GAME:
