For the second straight year, the Barrie Colts put up a crooked number in their home opener as newcomer Matej Pekar had two goals and an assist in his OHL debut. The Colts trounced the visiting Owen Sound Attack 9-2 as sophomore forward Ryan Suzuki also had three points with a goal and two helpers while St. Louis Blues prospect Tyler Tucker had a similar output. The Colts carried the play until the third frame when Owen Sound took the shooting column 19-8. Barrie outshot Owen Sound 40-37 on the game. Colts rookie Riley Piercey scored his first OHL goal while other tallies came from Lucas Chiodo, Jaden Peca, Ben Hawerchuk and Sam Rhodes while Maksim Zhukov made 35 saves for his first OHL win. Daylon Groulx and Markus Phillips scored for Owen Sound.
