Tuesday Recap: Torrid pace continues

It’s taken draft eligible winger Alex DeBrincat just 16 games to score 25 goals as he tacked on three more to his impressive total in a 5-2 Erie Otters victory over Mississauga on Tuesday.

The hat-trick marked the fourth time this season that DeBrincat has scored at least three goals in a game, having buried five on October 1st and another four on October 9th followed by a hat-trick on Friday night at home to Peterborough. The 18 year-old has eight goals over his past three contests and has scored in each of his past six games.

The Otters improved to 14-2-1-0 on the year in one of three games around the league on Tuesday.

ERIE 5 MISSISSAUGA 2 – Alex DeBrincat scored in his sixth straight game, burying his fourth hat-trick of the season as the Erie Otters downed the Mississauga Steelheads 5-2. The Otters peppered Mississauga goaltender Jack Flinn with 50 shots, beating him five times as Vanya Lodnia and Kyle Pettit also found the back of the net. Devin Williams made 24 saves as the Otters improved to 14-2-1-0.

KITCHENER 3 SARNIA 2 – The Kitchener Rangers prevailed in their specially themed Remembrance Day jerseys as St. Louis Blues prospect Luke Opilka made 32 saves in a 3-2 win. Arizona Coyotes prospect Ryan MacInnis’ 13th goal of the season was the game winner as the Rangers improved to 14-1-3-0. Rookie Nick McHugh scored his first career OHL goal while Gustaf Franzen also got on the scoresheet. Sarnia had goals from Hayden Hodgson and Jordan Kyrou in the loss.
GAME SUMMARY

PETERBOROUGH 4 KINGSTON 3 – The Peterborough Petes won in camo on Tuesday, saluting the troops with a 4-3 win over the Kingston Frontenacs. Carolina Hurricanes prospect Steven Lorentz led the way with a pair of goals while blueliner Matt Spencer had three assists as the Petes improved to 7-9-1-2. Kingston winger Lawson Crouse earned second star honours with a pair of goals while Los Angeles Kings prospect Spencer Watson had a goal and two helpers. The Petes have beaten the Frontenacs in two of their three meetings this season.
