Thursday Highlights: Dogs bite back
Thursday October 8, 2015
Arizona Coyotes prospect Brendan Perlini netted his third career OHL hat-trick as the Niagara IceDogs avenged a home ice loss to the Barrie Colts last week, defeating them 5-1 on home ice in one of two Thursday night contests.
The IceDogs shake off a four game losing skid with the victory and improve to 2-4-0-0 on the year.
NIAGARA 5 BARRIE 1 – The Niagara IceDogs made the most of their opportunity on Thursday, striking for five goals in the absence of injured Barrie Colts goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood who is sidelined day-to-day. Brendan Perlini buried three goals while Matt Gillard and Jordan Maletta, who struck on a shorthanded breakaway, also tallied on Colts netminder Ruan Badenhorst. Barrie’s Julius Nattinen scored his first OHL goal in the loss.
