Storm name Dave Barr General Manager
The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today the appointment of Dave Barr as the third General Manager in franchise history. Barr, a 13-year NHL veteran joins the Storm fresh from guiding the Houston Aeros of the AHL to their 2003 Calder Cup Championship. In Houston, Barr served as General Manager and President, overseeing all aspects of the front office and hockey club operations.
Following sixteen seasons of professional hockey, Barr, 42, joined the Houston Aeros as an assistant coach prior to the 1997-98 season. He added Assistant General Manager to his portfolio in 1999, before being promoted to General Manager and Head Coach for the 2000-01 season. His ascent in management continued when he was promoted to the position of team President, while maintaining his General Manager duties last season. During six seasons in Houston, Barr guided the Aeros to a .614 winning percentage (254-147-67) and two league championships.
The Toronto native was a two-time IHL All-Star with Kalamazoo (1995) and Orlando (1996). Barr is married and has two children.
