Spitfires Sign Defenceman Cam Fowler
The Windsor Spitfires are pleased to announce that the team has signed defenceman Cam Fowler.
Fowler was the Spitfires’ first-round pick in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection and is currently playing for the United States Development Under-18 Program (USDP) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Fowler will join the Spitfires for the 2009-2010 season and will continue to fulfill his commitment to the USDP for the remainder of this current season.
"In signing Cam, we feel that this marks one of the most significant moves that our hockey club has made since the inception of our ownership," commented Windsor Spitfires Vice-President and General Manager Warren Rychel," Cam will have an instant impact on our team when he joins us next season."
Fowler is currently billed as the top defenceman available for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He was also named as a first team tournament all-star as part of Team USA’s silver medal squad at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in London, Ontario. Additionally, he helped lead Team USA to a gold medal performance while leading all defensemen in scoring at the 2008 Men’s Under-18 Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, NY, USA.
