OHL Announces Performers of the Month
The Ontario Hockey League today announced the Performers of the Month for February 2005.
OHL Player of the Month – Patrick O’Sullivan, Mississauga IceDogs
O’Sullivan (pictured) led all OHL scorers during the month of February with 10 goals and 25 points in 12 games. He started the month with a three-point performance against the Sudbury Wolves on February 3 and picked up eight multiple-point games, including two goals and three assists in a 6-1 win over the Oshawa Generals on February 18. The 19-year-old native of Winston Salem, North Carolina, recorded points in all but one game last month and is currently enjoying a 10-game point scoring streak. O’Sullivan leads the IceDogs and is fourth in the OHL scoring race with 29 goals and 53 assists for 82 points in 49 games this season. He is one goal away from recording his fourth straight 30-plus goal season.
OHL Goaltender of the Month / OHL Rookie of the Month – Kyle Gajewski, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds
Gajewski posted a 4-0-1 record, along with a 1.18 goals against average, .955 save percentage and two shutouts in five starts last month. The 17-year-old London native started the month with a 26-save effort that earned him his second shutout of the season in a 5-0 win against the Belleville Bulls on February 4. He made 20 saves for another shutout in a 3-0 win over the Saginaw Spirit on February 18. Gajewski improved to 12-14-3 this season with a 2.46 goals against average and .918 save percentage in 30 games.
OHL Defenceman of the Month – Bryan Rodney, London Knights
Rodney led all OHL defencemen with five goals and 18 points in 11 games last month. The fifth-year blueliner recorded points in eight games last month, including two goals and two assists in a 7-5 win over the Peterborough Petes to open the month on February 4. Rodney added three-point games against Brampton on February 17 and Windsor on February 24. He posted a plus-16 rating to improve his plus-minus to plus-48. Rodney is third among OHL defencemen this season with 20 goals and 56 points in 60 games.
