Goals from six different contributors propelled the North Bay Battalion to a 6-1 win in Niagara, giving them a combined total of 13 goals in back-to-back wins on Thursday and Friday.
Sophomore blueliner Zach Shankar had three assists while Los Angeles Kings prospect Mike Amadio registered two. Rookie Kyle Potts scored his first OHL goal while veteran netminder Jake Smith made 28 saves to record the win.
North Bay’s 11th win of the season came in one of nine games around the league on Friday.
NORTH BAY 6 NIAGARA 1 – The North Bay Battalion overwhelmed the Niagara IceDogs on Friday as six different contributors found the back of the net in a 6-1 victory. Sophomore rearguard Zach Shankar had three assists while Los Angeles Kings prospect Mike Amadio earned first star honours with two. Blueliners Cam Dineen and Miles Liberati both scored while forwards Mathew Santos, Brett McKenzie, David Sherman also got on the scoresheet. Rookie Kyle Potts scored his first OHL goal in the win as the Battalion improves to 11-10-1-1. Brendan Perlini provided the lone goal for Niagara, sending the teddy bears flying 12:50 into the first period. Josh Ho-Sang collected an assist on the goal to keep his 15-game point streak alive.

LONDON 6 OWEN SOUND 1 – Arizona Coyotes prospect Christian Dvorak netted a natural hat-trick as the London Knights rolled to a 6-1 win over Owen Sound. Mitch Marner and Olli Juolevi each had three helpers while Matthew Tkachuk registered a goal and two assists. Owen Sound forward Kevin Hancock scored his first goal of the season in the loss. The Knights improve to 16-4-1-1.

OTTAWA 4 SARNIA 1 – Leo Lazarev turned in another strong performance, making 27 saves as the Ottawa 67’s defeated visiting Sarnia 4-1. Travis Konecny and Sam Studnicka each had a goal and an assist while Austen Keating and Trent Mallette also tickled the twine. The 67’s collected their third straight win to stay within a point of first placed Kingston in the East Division.

KITCHENER 3 BARRIE 1 – It took 45 minutes, but Dmitrii Sergeev broke the silence five minutes into the third period before Gustaf Franzen and Jeremy Bracco followed up to lead the Kitchener Rangers to a 3-1 win over Barrie. Goaltender Luke Opilka made 31 saves, coming 2:37 shy of a shutout as Brendan Lemieux spoiled his bid in the late stages of the third period. The Rangers bounce back from a Thursday night loss in Erie to improve to 19-3-3-0. Colts goaltender Ruan Badenhorst made 30 saves in his first start since October 8th.

WINDSOR 5 SAGINAW 1 – Arizona Coyotes prospect Christian Fischer’s two goals led the Windsor Spitfires to a 5-1 win over Saginaw. Anthony Stefano, Bradley Latour and Gabriel Vilardi also scored while Spitfires captain Patrick Sanvido had a plus/minus rating of plus-2 in his first action since October 8th. Goaltender Garret Hughson made 31 saves to record the victory. Veteran forward Kris Bennett provided Saginaw’s lone goal in the loss.

ERIE 3 MISSISSAUGA 1 – The Mississauga Steelheads knotted things at one in the opening minute of the third period, but the Erie Otters would prevail on third period markers from Vanya Lodnia and Taylor Raddysh in a 3-1 win. Raddysh scored twice in the game while rookie goaltender Jake Lawr made 22 saves to backstop the Otters to their 21st win of the season. Michael McLeod scored for Mississauga while goaltender Jack Flinn made 32 saves in the loss.

PETERBOROUGH 4 OSHAWA 2 – Buffalo Sabres prospect Eric Cornel scored a natural hat-trick to lead the Peterborough Petes to a 4-2 win over the rival Oshawa Generals. Draft eligible goaltender Dylan Wells made 30 saves while Jonathan Ang also scored as the Petes continued their recent run of success, improving to 13-9-2-2 on the season. Generals winger Kenny Huether scored twice in the loss.

KINGSTON 3 GUELPH 1 – Justin Nichols returned to the crease, turning in a 40 save performance for the Guelph Storm who fell 3-1 in Kingston. Frontenacs forward Jared Steege scored twice while rookie Ryan Cranford also tallied as the Fronts improved to 15-8-1-1. Sophomore goaltender Jeremy Helvig earned first star honours with 31 saves in the win and was beaten just once on the night on a goal by Storm rookie Isaac Ratcliffe.

HAMILTON 3 SUDBURY 2 – Cole Candella scored with 18 seconds remaining in overtime as the Hamilton Bulldogs bounced back from a Thursday night loss to defeat the Sudbury Wolves 3-2. Candella had a goal and an assist in the win while Michael Cramarossa also found the back of the net. Bulldogs defenceman Connor Walters scored his first OHL goal in the win while Wolves newcomer Mikkel Aagaard scored twice in his debut.
