Ray King officiates final OHL game after 20 seasons
Ontario Hockey League official Ray King officiated the final game of his OHL career on Saturday night, closing out 20 years of service to the league.
King worked the matchup between the Erie Otters and the London Knights, bringing his OHL officiating career to a close in Erie.
Prior to puck drop, the OHL held a brief on-ice recognition to honour King’s career and contributions to the league. OHL Officiating Manager Kevin Hastings presented King with a special award recognizing his 20 years of service.
King was joined on the ice by his wife, Nora, who was presented with flowers in appreciation of her support throughout his officiating career. His parents, Ray and Debbie, were also in attendance for the recognition.
Over the course of his OHL career, King officiated 250 regular-season games. Known for his professionalism and steady presence on the ice, he earned the respect of players, coaches, and fellow officials throughout his time in the league.
“Ray gave our league two decades of dedication and professionalism every time he stepped on the ice,” said OHL director of officiating Conrad Hache. “Officials like Ray are an important part of the game, and his commitment to the league and to the standards of officiating set a great example for others coming into the program.”
King selected to work his final OHL game alongside fellow officials Mike Cairns, Ryan Elbers, and Adam Harris.
Saturday’s game marked the conclusion of King’s OHL career, as the league thanked him and his family for their many years of commitment to the Ontario Hockey League.
