Sudbury Wolves overage goaltender Marcus Vandenberg has announced his commitment to Saint Mary’s University for the 2025-26 USports hockey season.
A native of Dorchester, Ont., Marcus Vandenburg was selected 177th overall by the Kitchener Rangers in the ninth round of the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. The 5-foot-11 netminder has suited up for three teams in his OHL career, the Kitchener Rangers (2021-23), Niagara IceDogs (2023-24) and Sudbury Wolves (2023-25). During the 2024-25 campaign, he spent the majority of his time with the Leamington Flyers of the OJHL where he posted a 31-4-2 record, 1.48 GAA and a .946 SV%.
Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Saint Mary’s University is home to the Saint Mary’s Huskies, a U Sports men’s hockey team that competes in the AUS (Atlantic University Sport) conference. In 2010, they captured their first U Sports national title.
Vandenberg becomes the first OHL player to join the Huskies for the 2025-26 season.
