McCue, a 20-year-old forward from Sudbury, Ont., was originally selected in the seventh round (125th overall) of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection by the Peterborough Petes. He made his league debut during Peterborough’s 2023 OHL Championship season, skating in 33 games as a rookie on a veteran-laden roster.
His offensive game took a significant step forward the following year, posting 16 points in 34 games with the Petes before a midseason move to Owen Sound, where he produced another 21 points in 34 contests to close out the 2023-24 campaign.
McCue continued to rise in 2024-25, splitting the season between Owen Sound and Flint. He recorded 31 points in 35 games with the Attack before a trade to the Firebirds, where he added 24 points in 20 games, highlighted by a stretch of consistent scoring.
Acquired by Brantford prior to the 2025-26 season, McCue contributed 10 goals and 6 assists for 16 points in 25 games while maintaining his strong two-way presence.
The 6-foot-2 winger was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 7th round (216th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Brantford, meanwhile, continues to add to its draft capital following recent moves, acquiring Ottawa’s second- and third-round selections as the Bulldogs reshape their roster following the additions of Ben Danford, Zack Sandhu, and Jett Luchanko.
McCue joins an Ottawa lineup looking to bolster its offensive depth as the 67’s push forward through the 2025-26 campaign.
