(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) The Sudbury Wolves announce the addition of Drake Berehowsky as Defence Coaching Consultant.
Berehowsky is no stranger to the Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club having been the Associate Coach handling the team defence in 2015-2017. During the 2016-2017 season with the Wolves, Berehowsky went on to accept the position of Head Coach in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears. He then went on to be the Head Coach and General Manager of the Solar Bears for the following five years.
“We have maintained a great relationship with Drake since he last coached in Sudbury,” said Sudbury Wolves VP and General Manager, Rob Papineau. “He has both played and coached in our league before and really understands the position having played 549 games in the NHL. He most recently spent six seasons as head coach in the ECHL which many players need to play and develop in as a pro league in their pursuit of making the NHL. Drake is a high character man, and we welcome him back to Sudbury.”
Prior to his time with the Wolves in 2015, Berehowsky had already established a large coaching resume of various levels of hockey starting in 2006 which included time in the OHL, WHL, ECHL, and AHL.
Berehowsky was drafted 10th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1990 and played 12 seasons in the NHL with Toronto, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Phoenix, Nashville, and the Edmonton Oilers. Berehowsky concluded his playing career in Europe in 2006.
