Wednesday Highlights: Sting solve Knights in shootout

Hugo Leufvenius (20) extended his point streak to a season-high 16-games, scoring in regulation before netting the shootout winner as the Sarnia Sting defeated their 402 rival the London Knights by a score of 5-4 on home ice. The midweek shootout finale also featured a goal and an assist from 2019 NHL Draft prospect Jamieson Rees (3) while goaltender Ethan Langevin stopped all three shootout opponents he faced. Alexandre Hogue (2) also got in on the Sarnia offence while Calgary Flames prospect Adam Ruzicka (11) tied the score at four with 2:40 remaining in the third period. Josh Nelson (8), Gerard Keane (2), Connor McMichael (20) and Paul Cotter (2) scored for the Knights who were without Evan Bouchard, Alex Formenton and Liam Foudy off at Canadian National Junior Team Selection Camp. Sarnia outshot London 46-36 as Joseph Raaymakers made 42 saves in the loss. Sarnia improves to 15-14-2-2 while the Knights earn a point to sit at 21-5-2-1 on the campaign. The win is Sarnia’s first in four tries against London so far this season.
