UNB, BROCK AND GUELPH CLINCH BACK-TO-BACK WINS IN PERFECT WEEKENDS
UNB Reds
The UNB Reds remain on top, continuing their undefeated season with a two-win weekend. Fueled with goals from OHL alumni, Saginaw Spirit graduate Brady Gilmour opened the scoring, with former Ottawa 67’s forward Austen Keating netting a power play goal at the 16:44 mark. London Knights alumni Jason Willms and former Kitchener Rangers blueliner Justin Nolet scored for the Reds in the second frame, with Hamilton Bulldogs graduate Isaac Nurse adding the fifth goal with just 27 seconds remaining in the third period to blank the Acadia Axemen 5-0.
The Reds continued their winning ways, defeating the Saint Mary’s Huskies 3-2 on Saturday night with goals from Nurse, London Knights alumnus Cody Morgan, and Hamilton Bulldogs graduate Kade Landry.
Brock Badgers
The Brock Badgers found themselves in this week’s U SPORTS Rankings, skating their way to 5th after a perfect weekend. Putting an end to Queen’s undefeated streak, the Badgers blanked the Gaels 6-0 on Friday night. OHL alumni found the back of the net, with contributions from Oshawa Generals graduate Ryan Stepien and former Hamilton Bulldogs forward Ethan Sims.
The Badgers clinched their second win of the weekend on Saturday, defeating the RMC Paladins 9-2. Sims continued his scoring streak netting a hat trick, while Stepien and Guelph Storm alumni Jacob Roach each found the back of the net on top of a pair of markers from Kingston Frontenacs graduate Tyler Burnie.
Guelph Gryphons
The Guelph Gryphons are finally starting to find their groove, closing out the weekend with a pair of victories. Defeating the RMC Paladins 10-4 at home on Friday night, the win saw goals from former Guelph Storm blueliner Isaac Enright, Oshawa Generals graduate Jacob Winterton, Windsor Spitfires alumnus Luke Kutkevicius, and Sarnia Sting graduate Nolan DeGurse.
The Gryphons returned to action on Saturday, as Kutkevicius, DeGurse, Mississauga Steelheads alumnus Liam Ham, and Barrie Colts graduate Anthony Tabak all found the back of the net before former Hamilton Bulldogs centreman Giardano Biondi would score the game-winner to defeat the Queen’s Gaels 7-6.
