Three OHL Players Invited to Slovakia’s National Junior Team Camp
Slovakia has named 28 players to its camp roster ahead of the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, set for Dec. 26, 2025 to Jan. 5, 2026 in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. The group includes three Ontario Hockey League players who have been key parts of their clubs this season.
The Slovaks will have three goalies, nine defencemen and sixteen forwards in camp. The final roster will be set after two games in Bemidji, Minnesota where Slovakia meets Latvia on Dec. 21 and the Czech Republic on Dec. 22.
The Slovak squad will take on a Group A slate at the World Juniors, facing Sweden, Germany, the United States and Switzerland in the round robin.
Three OHL players have earned invitations to camp:
| Player | Position | OHL Team |
| Ján Chovan | Forward | Sudbury Wolves |
| Alex Misiak | Forward | Erie Otters |
| Tomás Pobežal | Forward | Kingston Frontenacs |
Slovakia head coach Peter Frühauf noted that performance since the summer, form in club play and meeting fitness and skating standards were key factors in the selection process.
“We are taking one of the youngest teams in the history of the U20 World Championship, but we believe this group can handle the pace and be competitive against any opponent,” Frühauf said.
Slovakia’s camp begins Dec. 14 with six days of training before the final 25-player roster is named.
