Spitfires appoint Casey Torres as Interim Head Coach
Windsor Spitfires General Manager Bill Bowler announced Tuesday that Casey Torres will serve as the club’s Interim Head Coach.
The Spitfires relieved Jerrod Smith of his head coaching duties on Monday before Assistant Coach Andy Delmore tendered his resignation on Tuesday morning.
Torres, 43, hails from Kingston, Ont. where he served as a long-time Assistant Coach of the OJHL’s Kingston Voyageurs before joining the Kingston Frontenacs as a Video Coach. He’s held scouting positions with both the Peterborough Petes and the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins and spent the past two seasons as an assistant with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. Torres joined the Spitfires in an assistant coaching capacity this past summer.
The 4-16-1-0 Spitfires embark on five straight road games, visiting Peterborough, Kingston and Ottawa this coming weekend.
