Spirit acquire Braidy Wassilyn from Knights in exchange for Carson Harmer
The Saginaw Spirit have acquired forward Braidy Wassilyn from the London Knights in exchange for forward Carson Harmer and a fourth-round pick in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection.
Wassilyn was selected by the Niagara IceDogs with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection. The 18-year-old Campbellville, ON native joined London in an early-season trade during the 2025-26 season and recorded 19 goals, 27 assists and 46 points in 62 games with the Knights.
Wassilyn recorded a point in 11 of his first 14 games with London, producing nine goals and six assists over that stretch. He finished fourth in team scoring while establishing career highs in goals and assists.
As a rookie with Niagara in 2024-25, Wassilyn registered eight goals, 31 assists and 39 points in 68 games. He finished third among OHL rookies in assists and ninth in points while also earning a silver medal with Canada Red at the 2024 U17 World Challenge.
Wassilyn’s career-best five-point performance came against Saginaw during his rookie season, when he recorded a goal and four assists in a 7-2 Niagara victory on January 9, 2025.
“We are extremely excited to add Braidy to our group here in Saginaw,” said Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill. “He is a highly skilled player with game-breaking ability, and I saw firsthand what he can bring to a team during our time at U17’s.”
Wassilyn is currently attending Montreal Canadiens Rookie Camp and will wear number 66 with the Spirit this season.
For London, the transaction brings in Harmer along with Ottawa’s fourth-round selection in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection.
Harmer was selected by Saginaw in the third round, 44th overall, of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. He skated in 134 games with the Spirit, recording 41 goals, 53 assists and 94 points.
Harmer finished second in OHL rookie scoring in 2024-25 after recording 23 goals, 27 assists and 50 points in 68 games. He followed up with 18 goals, 26 assists and 44 points in 66 games during the 2025-26 season.
The transaction sees Wassilyn join Saginaw ahead of the 2026-27 season, while London adds Harmer and a fourth-round selection in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection.
