Preseason Report: September 21, 2024
Windsor Spitfires 5, Niagara IceDogs 3 (in Lakeshore)
- Ethan Belchetz continued his strong preseason with a shorthanded goal and two assists in Windsor’s 5-3 win over Niagara
- Belchetz’ three point effort gives him nine points (6-3–9) over five games
- Jean-Christoph Lemieux, Jack Greenwell, Noah Morneau and Ethan Martin also scored for the Spitfires
- Mike Levin scored twice for the IceDogs while Ryan Roobroeck also lit the lamp; Braidy Wassilyn had two helpers
- Joey Costanzo made 35 saves for the win as the Spits ended exhibition play with a perfect record of 5-0-0-0
Brantford Bulldogs 4, Kitchener Rangers 3 – SO
- Brantford surrendered a 3-1 lead as Kitchener drew even, forcing a shootout where Lucas Moore tallied the deciding goal
- Briir Long, Zakary Lavoie and Noah Nelson accounted for Brantford goals while Jake O’Brien had two assists
- O’Brien leads OHL preseason scoring through Saturday with 10 points (2-8–10) over five games
- Adrian Misaljevic scored twice for Kitchener, tying the score at three with 3:07 remaining
- Justin Bottineau also scored for the Rangers while Tanner Lam picked up a pair of assists
- Ryerson Leenders earned the win, making 25 saves in his return from Buffalo Sabres camp
- Jackson Parsons made 27 saves for Kitchener
- The loss was Kitchener’s first as they round out the preseason with a record of 5-0-0-1
Ottawa 67’s 5, Kingston Frontenacs 3 (in Cornwall)
- The 67’s climbed out to a 4-0 lead, outshooting Kingston 30-15 in a 5-3 win
- Filip Ekberg, Will Gerrior and Chris Barlas each had a goal and an assist while Nic Whitehead picked up two helpers
- Vann Williamson had a goal and an assist for Kingston while Ben Pickell and Ethan Weir also scored
- Collin MacKenzie and Jaeden Nelson split the game in net for Ottawa while Kingston’s Mason Vaccari made 25 saves
Peterborough Petes 3, Guelph Storm 2 (in Millbrook)
- Peterborough climbed out to a 3-0 lead on Guelph, enough to hold off the Storm late and take the game by a score of 3-2
- Quinton Page, Jonathan Melee and Francis Parish scored Petes goals as they won despite being outshot 38-32
- Alex McLean opened the Storm scoring 8:48 into the third before Parker Snelgrove drew Guelph within one
- The Storm went 0-for-10 on the powerplay while Peterborough finished 0-for-8
- Zach Bowen stopped 36-of-38 for the win in goal for Peterborough while Guelph’s Brayden Gillespie and Colin Ellsworth split the game
Sarnia Sting 5, London Knights 3
- Sarnia led 4-0 before London rallied for three straight goals; Ruslan Karimov put things out of reach with 15 seconds left in regulation
- Easton Wainwright, Alessandro Di Iorio, Tyson Doucette and Mitch Young added Sting goals while blueliner James Barr had two assists
- Rene Van Bommel scored a pair of third period markers for the Knights after Henry Brzustewicz got them on the board with 36 seconds left in the second period
- Nick Surzycia stopped 16-of-19 for the win opposite London’s Owen Willmore, who made 21 saves
