Petes’ Zanetti to represent Switzerland at 2022 World Juniors
Peterborough Petes defenceman Brian Zanetti will represent his native Switzerland at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship that gets underway on Boxing Day in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alta.
The 18-year-old from Lugano, Switzerland makes his World Junior debut after having represented Switzerland at the 2021 IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship. The 6-foot-2, 183Ib. Zanetti was a fourth round pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2021 NHL Draft and has nine assists through 17 games with the Petes this season.
Zanetti was selected by the Petes with the 35th overall pick of the 2020 CHL Import Draft. He’s the lone OHL player suiting up for Switzerland this year. They open their tournament on Monday against Russia in Red Deer.
