Petes acquire IceDogs captain Gavin Bryant
The Peterborough Petes added a veteran forward on Tuesday morning, acquiring overage centreman Gavin Bryant in a trade with the Niagara IceDogs. Peterborough received Niagara’s captain in exchange for a third round pick (Guelph’s) in 2026 along with a ninth round selection in 2028.
“Gavin is a great fit for our group,” noted Petes vice president of operations and general manager Oke. “He has been a leader on every team that he’s played for in this league. We know that he’ll be a big influence to our team both on and off the ice.”
Bryant, from Ingersoll, Ont., joins the Petes having spent last season in Niagara, producing 21 goals, 33 assists and 54 points over 62 outings. Bryant has been dealing with an injury to start the season and had yet to suit up for Niagara in 2024-25.
Prior to his time with the IceDogs, Bryant played two seasons in Owen Sound having been the Attack’s second round (37th overall) pick in 2020. He’s accumulated 40 goals, 78 assists and 118 points over 155 career regular season games.
The IceDogs are left with three overage players in goaltender Owen Flores, defenceman Noah Van Vliet and forward Andrei Loshko. Bryant joins captain Jonathan Melee and forwards Chase Lefebvre and Ryder McIntyre as one of four OA’s on Peterborough’s roster.
