Peters and Vrbetic commit to Battalion
North Bay, Ont. – The North Bay Battalion announced at the conclusion of Orientation Camp on Sunday that they’ve received commitments from 2018 second round selections Cameron Peters (29th overall) and Joe Vrbetic (31st overall).
The news follows the commitment of first round (9th overall) pick and local product Pacey Schlueting earlier this month.
A 15-year-old, 6-foot-1, 177Ib. centreman from Toronto, Ont., Peters spent the 2017-18 season with the GTHL champion Toronto Marlboros minor midgets, recording 27 goals, 33 assists and 60 points in 59 games. He added three assists in six games to help the Marlboros reach the semi-final of the 2018 OHL Cup powered by Under Armour. Peters rounded out the campaign with one goal in four games for Team GTHL Red as they settled for silver at the 2018 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener.

“It was great putting on the Battalion sweater,” Peters told battalionhockey.com following Orientation Camp.
“The physicality of the game was a big difference, for sure. This weekend I got hit a couple of times, but you’ve got to get right back up and play the game the way you really want to.”
A 15-year-old, 6-foot-4.5, 170Ib. netminder from Dunvegan, Ont., Vrbetic spent the season with the GTHL’s Don Mills Flyers minor midgets. He backstopped his team to an OHL Cup Wild Card victory over the Detroit Little Caesars before appearing in a pair of tournament games. He joined Peters on Team GTHL Red at the OHL Gold Cup.
“It was much faster, and I really enjoyed it,” said Vrbetic of Orientation Camp as compared to the minor midget pace. “It showed me what kind of pace I can play at, and it was a great experience overall.”
