Canadian Hockey League announces 20 OHL Alumni named to CHL Top 50 Players of the Last 50 Years
An impressive cast of names headlines the Canadian Hockey League’s Top 50 List published earlier this week. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this season, the CHL has highlighted prominent players across different eras of history as voted by members of the media. OHL Cup Top 10 Rankings – Jr. Canadiens climb to second, Quinte returns to list
The 11th edition of the OHL Cup Top-10 Rankings for the 2025-26 season features the Toronto Jr. Canadiens back up to second on the list while the Quinte Red Devils return to the Top 10 for the first time since December 2nd. The ALLIANCE London Jr. Knights also rose two spots, up to fifth on this week’s instalment. Read more

Dave Cameron coaches 1,000th game: Ottawa 67’s head coach Dave Cameron reached a significant milestone on Sunday afternoon, coaching his 1,000th career game in the Ontario Hockey League as the Barber Poles defeated the Owen Sound Attack 5-4. Read more
Johnson’s 58 saves set new season-high, establish Steelheads record: Brampton Steelheads rookie Luke Johnson turned aside 58-of-60 shots on Thursday night in North Bay, helping the Trout earn a point in a 3-2 shootout loss. The 58 saves are the most by an OHL goaltender so far this season, and establish a Steelheads single game club record. Johnson, 16, hails from Evanston, Illinois and was Brampton’s second round pick in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection.
Klepov hits 30-goal mark, makes Spirit history: Saginaw Spirit forward Nikita Klepov racked up a goal and three assists in Wednesday’s 5-4 road win over the Flint Firebirds, setting a new Spirit mark for assists by a rookie with 40. The 2026 NHL Draft prospect joined Cole Perfetti (2018-19) as the second rookie in Spirit history to score 30 goals in a season. The Deerfield Beach, Florida product continues his productive season, leading OHL rookies with 70 points (30-40–70) over 51 games, four points off the OHL scoring lead. The only player to ever claim the Eddie Powers Trophy as a rookie within their first two years of eligibility is Jack Valiquette of the 1973-74 Soo Greyhounds.

Spitfires, WRH Foundation launch “School Helps”: The Windsor Spitfires launched a fundraiser called ‘School Helps’ alongside the Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) Foundation on Tuesday morning at the WFCU Centre. The partnership, involving local schools and the Spitfires, will raise funds in support of the 17th edition of Hats On For Healthcare, presented by Greg Monforton and Partners. According to Foundation executive, Cristina Naccarato, in a Windsor News Today article about the partnership, Spits’ players will be placed within school communities as “co-captains” of teams in a fun, competitive fundraising competition. Sting sign defenceman Olivier Romain: The Sarnia Sting have signed 18-year-old defenceman Olivier Romain to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Romain was the Sting’s first round (4th overall) pick in the 2025 OHL U18 Priority Selection and has spent this season between the GOHL’s London Nationals and Sarnia Legionnaires, recording 11 points (3-4–7) over 33 games. Petes ink blueliner Holden Carter: The Peterborough Petes have signed 19-year-old defenceman Holden Carter to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The right-shot defender from Hoffman Estates, Illinois comes from the BCHL’s Cranbrook Bucks where he recorded nine points (2-7–9) through 35 games so far this season. Carter is committed to Army (NCAA) for 2026-27. Read more
Bulldogs sign fifth-round pick Benjamin Carr: The Brantford Bulldogs have signed 16-year-old forward Benjamin Carr to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The 6-foot-5 forward was Brantford’s fifth round pick in 2025 from Ottawa Myers Automotive AAA. Through eight games with their U18 AAA program this season, he has 10 points (4-6–10). Read more

Storm host 9th Annual Pevs Protects Night: The Guelph Storm will host their 9th annual Pevs Protects Night on Friday when they play host to the Flint Firebirds. In the first eight years, Storm fans have helped raise over $200,000 in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. PEVS Protects was developed by former NHL forward and Guelph native Rich Peverley, and his family, in partnership with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The partnership aims to raise awareness to support systems change to make AEDs available, accessible, and rescue-ready for all Canadians. Read more

Joe Bowen back in the booth in Sudbury on Family Day: The Sudbury Wolves will congratulate former play-by-play voice Joe Bowen, now of Toronto Maple Leafs fame, on a fantastic career on Family Day at the Sudbury Arena. The Wolves play host to the Niagara IceDogs and Bowen will call the game from the booth alongside son David. The Wolves will also honour local first responders at Monday’s game. Read more

OHL mourns the loss of Vince Malette: The Ontario Hockey League is saddened by news of the loss of former Ottawa 67’s and Peterborough Petes coach Vince Malette, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 64. It marks the end of a lengthy battle for Malette, who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers disease 11 years ago at the age of 53. Read more
