OHL Rivalry Week Recap
The first-ever OHL Rivalry Week is in the books, bringing exciting and competitive action to fans all across the league. Here’s a full breakdown of the results:
Oshawa Generals vs. Peterborough Petes
Series split 1–1
Game 1 – Thursday, Oct. 16th, 2025
Final: 7 (PBO) – 3 (OSH)
The Petes opened OHL Rivalry Week with a win over the Generals.
- OA forward Matthew Soto (5) set a new career high with five points – three goals and two assists.
- Adam Novotny (4) scored twice, giving him goals in three straight games.
- Aiden Young showcased his playmaking acumen with four assists.
- Easton Rye made 24 saves to get the win for the Petes.
- Brooks Rogowski (5), Vadim Smirnov (3) and Owen Griffin (6) each found the back of the net for Oshawa.
Game 2 – Sunday, Oct. 19th, 2025
Final: 6 (OSH) – 4 (PBO)
The Oshawa Generals get their revenge on the Petes in their second matchup of Rivalry Week.
- Blue Jackets’ prospect, Owen Griffin had 3 points, including 2 goals for Oshawa
- Brooks Rogowski was an assist machine, with 4 helpers for the Generals
- 2026 NHL Draft eligible forward, Colin Fitzgerald scored twice for the Petes
- Adam Novotny continued his hot streak with another goal, making it 5 straight games with at least one
Brampton Steelheads vs. Brantford Bulldogs
Brantford wins series 2–0
Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 17th, 2025
Final: 7 (BFD) – 3 (BRAM)
Brantford continued there success with seven goals in Brampton.
- Chicago Blackhawks prospect Marek Vanacker (9) had two goals and two assists – good for first star in the game and the OHL.
- Maple Leafs prospect Sam McCue (4) also added a pair of goals.
- Adam Benak (4) scored and added two helpers for the Bulldogs.
- Buffalo Sabres prospect Ryerson Leenders made 28 saves to help defeat his former team.
- Gabe Chiarot (3), Troy Patton (2) and Kieran Witkowski (3) were the scorers for Brampton.
Game 2 – Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2025
Final: 9 (BFD) – 3 (BRAM)
The Brantford Bulldogs offence exploded for 9 goals in Brampton.
- Maple Leafs’ prospect, Sam McCue had 2 goals for his second straight game, and added 1 assist
- Cooper Dennis had a goal and 2 helpers for the Bulldogs
- Luca Testa scored twice for the Bulldogs
- David Egorov was solid in net for the Bulldogs, stopping 31/34 shots he faced
- Canucks’ prospect, Gabriel Chiarot had a goal and an assist for the Steelheads
Erie Otters vs. Niagara IceDogs
Series split 1–1
Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 17th, 2025
Final: 3 (ER) – 1 (NIAG)
The Otters defended home ice against Niagara.
- Noah Erliden picked up first star honours, stopping 24 of 25 in the victory.
- Brett Hammond (3) started the scoring in the first period.
- Dylan Edward (3) potted the eventual game winner early in the second.
- McLean Agrette (2) added a beautiful insurance marker, good for the OHL’s play of the night.
- Braidy Wassilyn (1) was the lone scorer for the IceDogs – getting his first of the 2025-26 campaign.
Game 2 – Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2025
Final: 4 (NIAG) – 3 (ER) (OT)
The Niagara IceDogs take a close one in overtime on home ice.
- Canucks’ prospect, Riley Patterson scored the overtime winner for the IceDogs
- Standout rookie, Ryerson Edgar had a goal and an assist for the IceDogs
- Top 2026 NHL Draft eligible forward, Ryan Roobroeck scored on the powerplay
- Vladislav Yermolenko made 41 stops on 44 shots for the IceDogs
Guelph Storm vs. Owen Sound Attack
Series split 1–1
Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 17th, 2025
Final: 6 (OS) – 3 (GUE)
The Petes opened OHL Rivalry Week with a win over the Generals.

The Guelph Storm went up north and won 6-3 on the road.
- Leo Serlin continued his scoring ways for the Storm, with a goal and an assist
- Illia Shybinskyi had 2 assists for the Storm
- Attack defencemen, John Banks had an assist on all 3 goals they scored
- Charlie Paquette scored his first goal while wearing the ‘C’ for the Storm
Kingston Frontenacs vs. Ottawa 67’s
Series split 1–1
Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 17th, 2025
Final: 3 (OTT) – 0 (KGN)
The 67s bounced back from their first defeat of the season.
- Jack Dever (2) opened the scoring midway through the first period.
- Filip Ekberg (1) tallied his first of the season on the powerplay.
- Nic Whitehead (3) sealed the game in the third period.
- Ryder Fetterolf made 13 saves for the shutout win.
- Gavin Betts was the third star of the game, stopping 28 of 30 for Kingston.
Game 2 – Sunday, Oct. 19th, 2025
Final: 4 (KGN) – 2 (OTT)
The Niagara IceDogs take a close one in overtime on home ice.
- Connor Bewick scored his first career OHL goal for the 67’s early in the first period
- Canucks’ prospect, Kieren Dervin scored on a 5-on-3 shorthanded opportunity for the Frontenacs
- Jacob Battaglia scored a nice goal in tight for Kingston, bringing the Flames’ prospect up to 6 on the year
- Cooper Foster stayed hot for the 67’s with his 7th goal of the season
Kitchener Rangers vs. London Knights
Series split 1–1
Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 17th, 2025
Final: 6 (LDN) – 1 (KIT)
The Knights took the Aud by storm, putting up six in the win.
- London had six different goal scorers – Logan Hawery (2), Julian Brown (1), Sam O’Reilly (4), Ben Wilmott (5), Kaeden Hawkins (1) and Max Crete (1).
- Brody Cook chipped in two assists to earn the third star of the night.
- Aleksei Medvedev was the winning goalie, making 19 saves.
- Jack Prindham (6) got the lone Rangers goal.
Game 2 – Sunday, Oct. 19th, 2025
Final: 3 (KIT) – 2 (LDN) (OT)
The Kitchener Rangers get Rivalry Week revenge with an overtime win on the road.
- Kaden Schneider scored his first career goal for the Rangers
- LA Kings’ prospect, Henry Brzustewicz scored on the man advantage for his 4th of the year for the Knights
- Weston Cameron also scored his first career OHL goal for the Rangers to tie it in the third period
- Canucks’ draft pick, Aleksei Medvedev was solid in net for London, stopping 26/29
- Jakub Chromiak scored the overtime winner for Kitchener following a massive save by Kirsch in the other end
Sarnia Sting vs. Windsor Spitfires
Series split 1–1
Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 17th, 2025
Final: 3 (WSR) – 2 (SAR)
The Spitfires picked up the extra point after forcing overtime in the final minutes.
- Cole Davis (6) was the hero and earned the OHL’s Play of the Night for his efforts.
- 2026 NHL Draft top prospect Ethan Belchetz (9) continued to raise his stock with a goal and an assist.
- Joey Costanzo stopped 23 of 25 in the game to help the Spits to victory.
- Ben Pickell (2) and Blues prospect Lukas Fischer (1) scored for the Sting.
- Patrick Quinlan did all he could in the Sarnia net, stopping 27 to earn the first star of the game.
Game 2 – Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2025
Final: 5 (SAR) – 3 (WSR)
The Sarnia Sting get revenge in their second game of OHL Rivalry Week
- Cameron Aucoin scored twice including the winner for the Sting
- Flyers’ prospect, Jack Nesbitt scored and had 2 assists for the Spitfires
- Patrick Quinlan was a standout in the Sting net, stopping 42/43 in the win
- Top 2026 NHL Draft eligible forward, Ethan Belchetz is now up to 10 goals on the year with Windsor
Soo Greyhounds at Sudbury Wolves
Series split 1–1
Game 1 – Friday, Oct. 17th, 2025
Final: 4 (SBY) – 2 (SOO)
The Wolves came out victorious in the Highway 17 Rivalry.
- Jets 6th rounder Kieron Walton (4) continued his run of form since returning from camp with another goal and an assist.
- Nathan Villeneuve (1) scored his first and added two helpers in the win – earning the third star of the game.
- Finn Marshall was sensational for the Pack, stopping 29 of 31 including this ridiculous glove save that was named Save of the Night.
- Travis Hayes (5) and Jordan Charron (10) scored for the Hounds.
Game 2 – Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2025
Final: 3 (SOO) – 1 (SBY)
The Soo Greyhounds win a low-scoring affair on home ice.
- Greyhounds 2025 first round pick, Ryan Kaczynski found the scoresheet twice, including his first career OHL goal
- Noah Tegelaar was solid in the Greyhounds net, stopping 25/26 including the ‘Save of the Night’
- Marco Mignosa stayed hot for the Greyhounds, scoring his 6th of the season and the game winner
- Jan Chovan scored his 2nd of the season for the Wolves on the powerplay
Flint Firebirds vs. Saginaw Spirit
Flint wins series 2–0
Game 1 – Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2025
Final: 5 (FLNT) – 4 (SAG)
The Flint Firebirds take the battle of Michigan on home ice.
- New York Rangers’ prospect, Nathan Aspinall had a goal and 2 assists for the Firebirds
- Dimian Zhilkin scored twice and added an assist for the Spirit
- Christian Colosimo was solid on the backend for Flint, with a goal and an assist
- Nikita Kelpov continued his scoring ways, with his 8th on the year for Saginaw
Game 2 – Sunday, Oct. 19th, 2025
Final: 4 (FLNT) – 3 (SAG) (SO)
The Flint Firebirds take down the Spirit in both Rivalry Week games this weekend.
- Alex Kostov had 2 goals on the night and capped it off with the shootout winner for the Firebirds
- Dimian Zhilkin stayed hot for the Spirit, with a goal and an assist
- Defenceman, Urban Pordrekar had 2 assists for the Firebirds
- Mason Vaccari was solid in net for Flint, stopping 39/42 shots he faced, and 4/5 in the shootout
Barrie Colts vs. North Bay Battalion
North Bay wins series 2–0
Game 1 – Saturday, Oct. 18th, 2025
Final: 4 (NB) – 3 (BAR)
The North Bay Battalion take a close one on the road against Barrie.
- Dallas Stars’ prospect, Brad Gardiner scored twice and added an assist for the Colts
- Ryder Cali had a goal and an assist for the Battalion
- Aseny Pronin scored his 4th of the season for North Bay, which stood as the game winner
- Islanders’ first rounder, Kashawn Aitcheson scored his 6th on the year for Barrie
Game 2 – Sunday, Oct. 19th, 2025
Final: 3 (NB) – 2 (BAR) (SO)
The North Bay Battalion win a shootout thriller on home ice.
- Battalion rookie, Ryder Cali stayed hot with his 7th goal of the season, and 4th straight game with a goal
- Mike McIvor was solid in net for the Battalion, stopping 25/27, and stopping all 3 shootout attempts
- Utah Mammoth 2025 first round pick, Cole Beaudoin scored twice for the Colts, bringing his season total to 5
- Nick Wellenreiter scored a beautiful shootout goal which stood as the eventual winner for North Bay
