OHL Mourns the Loss of Brian Glennie

The Ontario Hockey League is mourning the loss of graduate and former long-time Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Brian Glennie who has passed away at the age of 73.

A hard-hitting defenceman from Toronto, Ont., Glennie captained the 1967 Toronto Marlboros to a Memorial Cup title before winning bronze under Father David Bauer’s 1968 Canadian Winter Olympics squad that competed in Grenoble, France.

He went on the play 572 career NHL contests over the course of 10 seasons, nine spent with the Leafs before finishing his tenure with the Los Angeles Kings. He finished with 14 goals and 100 assists along with 621 penalty minutes.

Glennie was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
