OHL Announces Results of Appeal Process Regarding Suspensions of Sudbury Wolves Players
Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of an appeal process regarding suspensions previously assessed to Sudbury Wolves players Nathan Villeneuve and Evan Konyen resulting from their roles in a violation of the League’s Social Media Policy.
In its decision, the League’s Appeal Panel has unanimously affirmed the finding of the Commissioner that there was a violation of the OHL Social Media Policy.
Tim Lukenda, Chairman of the OHL Board of Governors and member of the League’s Appeal Panel, has announced that suspensions to both players have been modified in the following manner:
- Suspension to player Nathan Villeneuve upheld as 15 games in length, with nine regular season games to be served in 2023-24, with the remaining six to be served to begin the 2024-25 regular season. Villeneuve is eligible to return for Game 1 of the 2024 OHL Playoffs.
- Suspension to player Evan Konyen reduced from 10 games to six games. Konyen is eligible to return for the regular season game of Friday, March 22nd.
In accordance with the OHL Constitution and Enforcement Process, this decision is final and conclusive with no further right of appeal or review.
