Ninth overall pick Caden Taylor commits to Wolves
(Greater Sudbury, ON) – The Sudbury Wolves are proud to announce the commitment of Caden Taylor, following his 1st round selection in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection. The 6’2, 174lbs., forward, from Shanty Bay, ON. signed a standard player agreement with the Wolves.
Caden Taylor, who was selected ninth overall, comes to Sudbury with an impressive resume, having recorded 121 points with 58 goals and 63 assist in just 60 games with the Mississauga Senators during the 2022-23 season. Known for his size, offensive prowess, and NHL caliber shot, Taylor is ready to make the jump to the OHL this September.
“It is an unbelievable feeling to sign with the Sudbury Wolves,” Caden Taylor expressed his excitement about joining the hockey club. “It is a great team, with a lot of very talented players and I am super excited to get to know them. After getting to know Rob Papineau, I knew it was the right team for me. Sudbury is a true hockey town with an amazing coaching staff, unreal fans, and committed ownership, and I am so grateful to be a part of it. I would like to thank my past coaches, Dan Sisca, Lucky DeGrazia, and Stephon Thorne for believing in me and taking the time to help me get to where I am today. Most importantly, I’d like to thank my parents for their love and support. They have always been there for me, and I can’t thank them enough.”
Rob Papineau, Sudbury Wolves Vice President, and General Manager, spoke highly of the newest addition to the team: “We are really happy about both being able to draft Caden and now having him commit to our hockey club. He is a highly offensive player that we really coveted these past two seasons and are excited for our fans to see him in a Wolves jersey.”
Caden will join a group of highly skilled returning players for the 2023-24 season including Seattle Kraken prospect, David Goyette, highly ranked 2023 NHL draft eligible, Quentin Musty and 2022 3rd overall draft pick, Nathan Villeneuve, among many other exciting players returning for the 2023-24 season.
OHL Central Scouting says: “Caden is a player that has a ton of talent and potential and can dominate a game when he wants to. He has great size, skill and speed that separate him from many players in this age group. Physically he dominates down low as he uses his size to protect the puck well, his shot off the rush or coming out of the corner is very hard to handle because it has pace and he can place it where he wants. He is a go-to player for his team.”
