NHL Debut: Igor Chernyshov (Dec. 16, 2025)
Igor Chernyshov is slated to make his NHL debut tonight for the San Jose Sharks as they face the Calgary Flames. He is projected to skate on the first line alongside Macklin Celebrini and Collin Graf.
One of the AHL’s most productive rookies, Chernyshov sits fourth in points (23), tied for third in goals (11), and tied for eighth in assists (12). He leads the San Jose Barracuda in both points and goals this season and shares third place on the team in assists. His strong play earned him San Jose Sharks Prospect of the Week honours on Nov. 25 after a five‑point (2‑3–5) weekend. He’s continued that momentum with seven points (2‑5–7) in his last six games, helping propel his call‑up to the NHL.
The six‑foot‑two forward was drafted by San Jose in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft and spent last season in the OHL with the Saginaw Spirit. Despite appearing in only 23 games, he finished fifth on the team in scoring with 55 points (19‑36–55) and seventh in goals.
