Milestone Moments: Feb. 16/18
A pair of Sarnia Sting teammates hit career OHL milestones on Friday in a 3-0 win over Saginaw. Here’s a look at those accomplishments.
AIDAN HUGHES (SARNIA STING):
Eighteen-year-old netminder Aidan Hughes stopped all 42 shots that came his way for his first career OHL shutout as he backstopped the Sting to their fourth straight win. Hughes earned first star honours as he helped his club improve to 39-12-4-0 on the season. The London, Ont. native is 8-4-1-0 this season with a 3.12 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage. He was Sarnia’s second round pick in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection from the London Jr. Knights Minor Midgets.
MITCH ELIOT (SARNIA STING):
Twenty-year-old defenceman Mitch Eliot needed just three games to score his first career OHL goal, helping guide the Sting to victory in Saginaw. The Grosse Pointe, Mich. native joined the Sting this past week and was the club’s 11th round pick in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection.
