Knights’ Jones signs with Ducks
ANAHEIM, CA – The Ducks have signed left wing Max Jones to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
Jones, 18 (2/17/98), helped lead London to Memorial Cup and Ontario Hockey League championships in 2016, collecting 1-1=2 points with 23 penalty minutes (PIM) in six playoff games. Jones appeared in his rookie OHL season in 2015-16, scoring 28-24=52 points with a +30 rating in 63 games with London. The 6-2, 206-pound winger was a finalist for the OHL Rookie of the Year award after ranking tied for second among league rookies in goals.
Selected by Anaheim in the first round (24th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Jones won silver with Team USA at the 2014 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, where he led the tournament with seven goals (7-4=11) in six games. He spent the 2014-15 season with the United States National Team Development Program Under-17 and Under-18 teams, combining for 18-10=28 points with 189 PIM in 40 games.
