Joey Costanzo becomes seventh goaltender in OHL history to record 100 wins
Windsor Spitfires goaltender Joey Costanzo reached a major career milestone on Friday night, becoming just the seventh goaltender in Ontario Hockey League history to record 100 career regular-season wins.
Costanzo joins a short list that includes J.P. Anderson, Kyle Gajewski, Joseph Raaymakers, Devin Williams, Jacob Oster, and Adam Dennis as the only goaltenders to reach the century mark in league history.
The Toronto native earned his milestone victory in Sudbury, marking his 25th win of the season, which ranks third among OHL goaltenders. His 2.08 goals against average sits second in the league, while his four shutouts are tied for the OHL lead this season.
Costanzo’s 100 career wins have come with two OHL clubs. He recorded his first five victories with the Niagara IceDogs before securing the remaining 95 wins as a member of the Windsor Spitfires.
Selected as the first goaltender in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection, Costanzo began his OHL career with Niagara before being acquired by Windsor on Sept. 27, 2022, in exchange for a pair of draft picks.
Earlier this season, Costanzo set a new Windsor Spitfires franchise record by earning his 87th career regular-season win in a Spitfires uniform, surpassing the previous mark for victories by a goaltender in team history.
Among active OHL goaltenders, Costanzo now leads the league in career wins, sitting ahead of Brantford Bulldogs netminder Ryerson Leenders (88 wins).
