Futures Watch: Soo Greyhounds
As the 2025–26 OHL season approaches this September, the Soo Greyhounds are looking to build on their (29–35–2–2) record from last year. We spoke with GM Kyle Raftis about the new faces fans should be keeping an eye on as the team prepares for the upcoming campaign.
Class Quote
“With the majority of our core returning from last season, a group that took a big step forward and was rewarded through the NHL Draft, it was important to add players who can step in, learn from them and contribute right away. This incoming class brings a great balance of speed, creativity, and size, which will complement our returning group extremely well. It should make for a highly competitive camp and help set the tone early for the Hounds program.”

Player Spotlights:
Callum Croskery – LD
Selected in the second round (40th overall) in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, Callum Croskery was originally selected out of the Oakville Rangers U16 AAA Program. That year, he amassed the most points by a defenceman in the OMHA, was crowned an OHL Cup Champion and named to the OHL Cup All-Star Team. This past season, he played in 54 games with the Chicago Steel (USHL), scoring 10 points (1-9–10) in 54 regular-season games.
“He’s a smooth-skating defenseman who truly excels in transition, showing the ability to exit the defensive zone with poise by evading pressure, using space, and applying his vision to manage the puck and drive the pace of play.”
Noah Laus – LW
Selected in the first round (7th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, Noah Laus was the captain of the Toronto Jr. Canadians U16 AAA program where he recorded 42 points (25-17–42) in 33 regular season games. In eight games at the 2025 OHL Cup, Laus tallied a tournament-leading 16 points (8-8–16) and was named a tournament all-star while helping JRC win the OHL Cup.
“Noah is an incredibly versatile player who excels at both wing and centre. He plays with speed, physicality, and skill. His ability to control the game, set up his linemates with exceptional vision, and unleash a powerful shot makes him a constant offensive threat. As captain of JRC, Noah was a leader both on and off the ice, guiding his team to an OHL Cup championship. His leadership is undeniable – he’s been a winner everywhere he’s played. Whether he’s driving play off the rush or using his power-forward frame to create opportunities, he’s ready to make an immediate impact.”
Ryan Kaczynski – C
Selected in the first round (19th overall) in the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, Ryan Kaczynski played last season with the Mid Fairfield Rangers 15U AAA program. In 60 regular season games he recorded 118 points (57-61–118). In tournament play, Kaczynski appeared in four games for Team Forest of the USA-S15 and had five points (2-3–5). While in the US 15U Nationals with the Rangers he added seven points (5-2–7) in another four games played.
“He brings the key elements of a dominant forward – speed, skill, and size. Ryan is the type of player who wants the puck on his stick in traffic and, more importantly, in key moments. With a deadly release and the vision to match, he’s a scoring threat from anywhere in the offensive zone.”
