Ducks prospect Konnor Smith named Attack captain
Owen Sound, ON – The Owen Sound Attack have named defenceman Konnor Smith captain for the 2024-25 season.
Smith was traded from Peterborough to the Attack last year in the early months of of the 2023-24 campaign. Playing a total of 34 games with the Attack, Smith managed two goals and seven assists while providing a shutdown presence and bringing physicality every night.
Attack Head Coach Scott Wray says Konnor has made a resume that “speaks for itself.”
“Since day one of meeting Konnor my staff and I have learned he is a lead by example type of player. He does everything he can for himself and teammates to get an edge and I believe the entire room looks up to him. Konnor has played numerous amounts of Ontario Hockey League games and also appeared in the Memorial Cup. Konnor is an extension of our coaching staff and I know we can lean on him.”
“I’m extremely honoured to have been named captain for the Owen Sound Attack,” said Smith. “I just want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. We’re a young team that has a lot of great players and potential. This team can surprise a lot of people and we will. I’m very excited to be back and lead such a great and talented group of guys.”
Along with his recent captaincy, Smith chose four additional players to act as assistant captains. Jake Crawford, James Petrovski, Landen Hookey and Carter George will serve as alternates. With Carter George being a Goaltender, rules dictate that he may not wear an “A” on his chest, but will be treated as an honorary Assistant Captain for the Attack.
Tonight the bears travel to Brantford to play against the Bulldogs at 7PM in the Brantford Civic Centre. Make sure to follow the Attack as updates with the team will be available via the Attack’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
