Crane, O’Flaherty change teams as Knights, IceDogs swap forwards
The London Knights and Niagara IceDogs announced a trade ahead of the weekend, with veteran winger Brody Crane heading to Niagara in exchange for winger Chris O’Flaherty and three draft picks.
In Crane, the IceDogs receive a 19-year-old left-winger who scored 13 goals, 29 assists and 42 points in 68 games with London in 2022-23. The former fourth-round pick in 2020 hails from Union, Ont., a community just south of St. Thomas and is the son of former OHL forward Derrick Crane, who played three OHL seasons between London, Ottawa and Windsor from 1990-93. Crane recorded two assists in his first three games as an IceDog last week.
“Brody plays the game the right way and understands what it takes to win hockey games,” said IceDogs interim GM Wes Consorti of the addition. “He brings a high level of compete which immediately strengthens our lineup.”
The Knights fetched a third-round pick in 2025 (Brantford’s), fourth-round pick in 2026 (Flint’s) and third-round pick in 2027 along with O’Flaherty, a 6-foot-1, 204Ib. left-winger from Chicago. The former fourth-round pick of the Windsor Spitfires in 2021 has produced 10 goals, 13 assists and 23 points over 128 regular season games between Windsor and Niagara. He played in London’s wins over Owen Sound and Guelph last week.
