Cowan breaks Knights’ all-time post-season scoring record
Easton Cowan etched his name into London Knights history on Monday, setting a new franchise playoff points record. The 19-year-old Toronto Maple Leafs prospect reached the 90-point milestone with the opening goal in the Knights’ 7-5 win over the Oshawa Generals, pushing London to a 2-1 lead in the OHL championship series.
Cowan added an assist in the second period to record his 91st career playoff point, moving past former Knights star Rob Schremp, who tallied 90 points between the Mississauga IceDogs and London from 2002 to 2006.
Cowan’s standout performance continued as he netted a crucial insurance marker late in the game, bringing his postseason total to 35 points (12 goals, 23 assists) in just 15 games this year.
Taken 28th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft and the 2024 Red Tilson Trophy winner, Cowan continues to build his big-game reputation after a regular season that saw him post 69 points in 46 games and carry a 65-game point streak into February.
With 92 career playoff points, Cowan now ranks third on the OHL’s all-time postseason scoring list, trailing only Wayne Groulx’s 102 points. He also sits just outside the top 10 in CHL history, surpassing legends like Corey Perry and Ryan Ellis in the process.
