OHL Mourns the Loss of Matt Lahey
The Ontario Hockey League is deeply saddened by the loss of former OHL player Matt Lahey who passed away on Friday April 4, 2014, at the age of 36 due to complications from heart surgery.
Lahey, a native of Nepean, ON, played four OHL seasons from 1994-98 beginning his career with the Peterborough Petes where he was a member of their championship team in 1996. He also played for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds before finishing his OHL career as a member of the Guelph Storm. In 1996 he was a fifth round selection of the Washington Capitals.
The Petes held a moment of silence for Lahey prior to Game 3 of the OHL’s Eastern Conference Semi-Final against the Oshawa Generals on Tuesday night.
